Hidden Gems: Meet Patrick Donlin of Chuckwagon Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Donlin.

Patrick, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Chuckwagon Park is an idea that is driven by neighborhood demand and changing world due to Covid 19. We have a beautiful space centrally located with outdoor dining potential. We thought to offer the community something fun and unique to do while working with local small businesses. Food is our focus now, but want to add retail and continue partnering with quality organizations. We are looking to partner with some non-profits to encourage community involvement and cohesive support of all of our local small businesses.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
We are learning every day and creating an inviting environment is easier said than done. Fortunately, we have had great vendor partners and our shared experiences have enabled us to make strides together as a team. One initial struggle for a restaurant in a new location is letting people know what you are doing. We are working with community groups and doing promotions to help increase our awareness in the community.

As you know, we’re big fans of Chuckwagon Park. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
People tell us that we are bringing the personality of Austin to Dallas. Food truck parks are more common in Austin than Dallas, but I feel the culture will adopt it and creates an opportunity to take a familiar concept and make it unique to our neighborhood. The item that sets us apart is the spirit. As you talk with the vendors, they are excited about their business. As you see the space, it has creative features such as topiaries, church pews, bourbon barrels, palm trees and whatever else we can come up with! Chuckwagon park has a creative spirit fueled by the people that visit the food truck park!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One of the great networking theories is to never eat alone. The park is designed so people can come solo or in groups and find people to connect with and make new friends!
