Hi Quoc, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Before I found my company, I was a structural engineer, design, building houses in Vietnam, Australia for 25 years. I came to US and work as a bridge designer and real estate investor for several years. I realized, while many of my friends are very good in what they are doing, but missed the bigger picture: a home of their own, or an investment portfolio that can help grow the asset and support their lifestyle when they retire. With that spark, I decided to involve more in real estate financial instead of just take whatever the mortgage guys told me. I realized I was ripped off; rate and fees are high than it should be. The person, instead of doing better because I am a repeat customer, he probably charged more because I didn’t shop. I believe that is not a service I deserve. I found my company and operate my business with the mind set I learned during my career, as an engineer and a mortgage professional: Focus on my work, put my customers benefit above my own. With that mindset and dream, I found FOCI LOANS LLC. Foci , is focus in Latin base and, for me also stand for, Focus On Customer ( Best) Interest.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I never been a smooth road. I believe not only for me but for everyone else who want to bring their value to the market. As said, I originally started out with an engineer’s mind set. Step into real estate finance and sell business I struggle with seeing complicate issue from the consumer’s perspective. I though my explanation is simple while general consumers feel hard to understand. While I keep my core values that I want to bring to my customers such as ethic, integrity and best loan products, I have to constantly change my mindset and skill so that I can approach customers, educate them and guide them in a way acceptable for them. I failed a lot, I need to keep improving myself every day.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
We believe Credibility is the most important value of any business, especially in financial services. Similarly, Integrity is important character of the person who provide the service. It is hard to do but I believe: Do the right things, not the easy things.
