Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Whaley.
Hi Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I knew I wanted to work with a ton of babies, pregnant mommies, and families so I started a practice right out of school and set off to meet local midwives, Doulas and birth workers to help grow my practice. I have a very unique fee system, which allows for whole families to be seen on a regular basis. After the first visit, people are allowed to set their own fee within boundaries to allow for more consistent regular chiropractic care. Now 15 years later we have a large high volume family practice seeing over 1500 people a week. We have a lot of services that we provide from chiropractic care, massage therapy, shockwave therapy, we have a naturopath and a midwife that work out of our office, a nurse practitioner that offers vitamin IVs and shots, and a coffee shop inside the office as well. I can honestly say I have my dream practice. We are so lucky to get to serve the amount of families that we do and have cultivated a close community within the office.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly it has been a very smooth road… It has grown organically throughout the years, and I have added doctors and staff as needed with practice growth.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I feel like I answered a lot of this in the previous question, but we are known for our very unique fee system. I wanted Chiropractic to be available to people of all walks of life and them not have to choose which of their family members got to receive chiropractic care, but it could be available to the whole family as a unit. I wholeheartedly believe in Chiropractic as preventative wellness care rather than symptom relief, which I feel is the norm in our industry. I wanted to allow families to see how Chiropractic could influence their health and wellness when received on a regular basis with help from all sorts of different conditions like ear infections, headaches, constipation problems, latch issues, colic, reflux, anxiety, and stress, sleep regulation, etc., etc., With the unique fee system where we allow people to set their own fee within the budget they can afford. It allows them to utilize chiropractic care as a weekly service versus only coming in when they hurt or have a symptom that is plaguing them. Through this unique fee system, we are able to further educate our patients on other natural remedies and ways to live holistically that they might not have otherwise been aware of through the medical industry. I also love with the unique model it allows us to see people for years and years and I feel like I am an honorary Aunt among many of our patients because I have watched their children grow from infants into teenagers into young adults who then choose to bring their kids into us so now we are getting into second generation families, which is truly so amazing to witness. I would say as a whole our office is known as a Family Wellness office, but we do specialize in pregnancy and pediatric and have certifications in Webster technique as well as PX doc certifications. As we have grown, we have extended our services beyond Chiropractic adjustments and try to be a one stop shop for all things Wellness. We have a naturopath, a midwife, we offer shockwave therapy services, which is great for muscular skeletal issues like frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, meniscus or ACL injuries, osteoarthritis, and tons of other issues that can be both acute and chronic in nature that paired with Chiropractic people are seeing really good healing response with. We have a nurse practitioner that comes in and offers vitamin IVs and shots to help boost people’s immune systems, as well as offering detox foot baths to help with clients detoxification pathways.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I would say one of the most important lessons I’ve learned through growing my practice is hiring people that share the same vision and mission that you do and surrounding yourself with a team that have servants hearts and create a warm inviting atmosphere that people want to be around more often.
