Hidden Gems: Meet Ronnie Pawley of Athlete Restoration Lab (ReLab)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronnie Pawley.

Hi Ronnie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Athlete Restoration Lab was founded on the belief that athletes of all levels deserve better care and attention throughout the rehabilitation process. Shortly after leaving my previous employer, I was approached by Jared Gillespie with the idea of partnering with Sports Academy to create a truly comprehensive environment—one where athletes could not only recover from injuries but also be restored to peak performance. Since then, ReLab has grown to include multiple clinicians and locations, all built on this same foundation and guided by a simple principle: to genuinely care for our clients.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a hybrid model clinic, we’re only in-network with a select few insurance providers. This allows us to keep our volume low and focus on delivering more personalized, high-quality care to each client. However, the concept of cash-based physical therapy is still relatively new in the rehab world, so educating clients on the value of this model has been an important part of our journey. That said, the process of growing ReLab has been fairly smooth overall.

We’ve been impressed with Athlete Restoration Lab (ReLab), but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At ReLab, we don’t just treat injuries. We deliver one-on-one, precision care led by board-certified sports specialists and elite clinicians. Every session is focused. Every plan is personal. To us, restoration is more than recovery. It is the intentional rebuild of the athlete physically, mentally, and competitively. Through expert care, focused progression, and high-touch connection, we do more than help you return. We prepare you to rise beyond.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
The Cash-Based Practice Field Manual by Danny Matta has been an important resource in transitioning from a staff clinical therapist in a large organization to helping to open a private practice. Another book I value is Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki as a general guide for personal growth.
