Hidden Gems: Meet Sama Mohammad of PappaRoti Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sama Mohammad

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all started when we first moved here from Chicago and one day I and my husband were craving for Papparoti. Upon looking up we realized there isn’t one around, that combined with my passion for baking and desserts is the result, the first Papparoti in Texas was opened, along with my brother Shoaib who also moved here with us.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening up a business is never a smooth road, although I managed a big name coffee shop by myself in the past, opening one from scratch is a completely different experience, this was the time when there was severe shortage of pretty much everything, including equipment, labor etc.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
PappaRoti stands out primarily for its signature coffee-coated buns, which are unique in flavor and texture.

It feels really good when our customers who have Papparoti for the first time, stop by and say that this is one of the best pastries they have had in their life.

The buns have a crispy, caramelized coffee crust on the outside, with a soft, buttery interior. This distinctive combination of textures and flavors is what PappaRoti is most famous for.

This combined with some of our unique coffee and tea flavors, one of which is the Turkish Coffee brewed in sand, makes Papparoti an experience for many of us.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Papparoti Frisco as a business did not exist then but for me personally, COVID-19 crisis has highlighted Global Interconnectedness.

The pandemic emphasized how interconnected the world is. A health crisis in one part of the world can quickly become a global issue.

And it also highlighted that, it is important to live, laugh, travel and be tolerant a little more, to cherish the good health and only life we have at hand.
