Today we’d like to introduce you to Shadai Brinchfield.
Hi Shadai, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into therapy started with a deep desire to help people feel seen, heard, and empowered during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I’ve always been drawn to understanding people their stories, their pain, and their resilience. That passion led me to pursue my education and clinical training in mental health, where I gained experience working with individuals navigating trauma, life transitions, and emotional challenges. A pivotal moment for me was my own experience with counseling during undergrad. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a positive one. I didn’t feel fully heard or supported, and it left me questioning what therapy should really feel like. Instead of discouraging me, it fueled me. I became determined to create a different kind of experience for others; one where clients feel genuinely understood, respected, and safe. When I started my private practice, I wanted every part of it to reflect who I am and what I stand for. Even the name of my practice is intentional, it’s a play on my own name, representing both my personal connection to the work and my commitment to showing up authentically for my clients. My work is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and the belief that each person already has the strength within them to grow. I’m just here to help guide the process and make therapy a truly meaningful experience.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many therapists building something of their own, I’ve faced moments of doubt especially imposter syndrome. There are days where I question if I’m doing enough or if I’m truly making the impact I hope to make. Building a practice from the ground up also comes with its own challenges, from finding clients to balancing the business side of things while still showing up fully for the people I serve. But through those moments, I’ve learned to ground myself in my purpose. My faith plays a huge role in that, I truly believe that God has placed me in this position for a reason. Even on the hard days, I remind myself that I’m called to this work, and that keeps me going. Those challenges have ultimately strengthened me, deepened my empathy, and made me even more committed to creating a meaningful and transformative experience for my clients.
As you know, we’re big fans of Day by Dai Therapy and Wellness. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My practice is centered around creating a safe, supportive, and empowering space for individuals who are ready to grow, heal, and move forward. I work from a person-centered approach, which means I meet clients where they are while helping them build insight, confidence, and meaningful change in their lives. As a licensed therapist and certified life coach, I’m able to support clients not only in processing their experiences but also in taking intentional steps toward the life they want. I specialize in working with individuals navigating anxiety, life transitions, stress, and emotional overwhelm, helping them gain clarity, emotional balance, and a stronger sense of self. What sets my practice apart is the experience I strive to create. I’m intentional about making therapy feel warm, collaborative, and personalized not clinical or one-size-fits-all. Clients can expect to feel truly heard, respected, and supported throughout their journey. I focus on creating a space where clients can process their experiences while also reconnecting with their strengths and developing healthier ways of navigating life. Looking ahead, my vision for the practice is to grow into a full mind and body wellness experience. I want it to be a space that not only supports mental health but also encourages physical well-being bridging the gap between emotional healing and overall wellness. Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how authentic and purpose-driven my practice is. From the name, which is a play on my own, to the overall feel of the space, everything reflects my commitment to showing up genuinely and creating meaningful connections. I want readers to know that this is more than just therapy it’s a space where you can come as you are, feel supported, and leave feeling more grounded, aligned, and empowered in both your mind and your life.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about Dallas:
What I love most about Dallas is the energy, it’s a city that really lets you grow into your next level. There’s so much opportunity here to build the life you want, and I love being surrounded by ambition, creativity, and culture. It feels like a place where you can become her.
What I like least about Dallas:
Rush hour traffic will humble you every time . One minute you’re outside, the next you’re sitting in traffic rethinking your entire route, playlist, and life choices. Dallas will keep you soft… but that traffic? Not so much.
