Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Bradley.
Hi Sharon , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born and raised in Mississippi, I am grateful for the strong, caring individuals in my life who instilled values and shaped my character. My parents emphasized the importance of a good education, and teachers, mentors, and club sponsors invested their time to keep me connected to school. Their support fostered a sense of care and motivated me to attend school consistently and work diligently. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Mississippi State University and later relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth area after graduation. A few years later, I obtained my Master’s in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University. With 25 years of experience serving as a special and general education teacher, dropout prevention program coordinator, assistant principal, principal, and student services director, I eventually founded my educational consulting business, RestorativeFlo Educational Solutions, LLC. Our focus is on providing professional development, coaching, and resources to address chronic absenteeism, conflict management, and adult wellness. A significant aspect of my work involves sharing evidence-based strategies to improve attendance rates, applicable both individually and through collaborative efforts.
As a certified restorative practitioner through the International Institute for Restorative Practices, I also offer restorative conflict resolution services to organizations nationwide. My innovative work in absenteeism prevention has been recognized by Education-First/Rockefeller Foundation, D CEO Magazine, and Education Week, which named me a 2024 Leader to Learn From. In 2023, I was honored as “Person of the Year” by the International Truancy and Dropout Prevention Association. Additionally, I co-host the Attendance USA Connection Podcast, where we engage researchers, practitioners, and community organizations in conversations about transforming attendance challenges into opportunities.
I am the author of widely used attendance resources, including “Chronic Absenteeism: Prevention and Intervention Strategies for Schools, Families, and Communities” and “Combating Chronic Absenteeism through Attendance Intervention Plans”. My most recent publication is “Love Begins Within: A Story of How Self-Love Can Change the World…for GOOD”. My children’s book uses lyrical rhyme and uplifting messages to promote self-love, emphasizing that kindness and peace stem from within. It encourages young readers to embrace their uniqueness, speak kindly to themselves, and recognize that nurturing inner love can positively influence the world around them—through actions like helping others, sharing joy, and standing up for what is right.
As an educational consultant and breast cancer survivor, my mission is to share ways to effectively support students and share as much positivity with the community and the world. Whether through conflict resolution services, promoting kindness, or supporting schools in developing effective strategies to increase attendance, I am committed to making a meaningful impact.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has been challenging, more so than I initially anticipated. I am honored to stand before you as a breast cancer survivor. Throughout my treatment—chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery—I continued working to support my students. This provided me with daily motivation to persevere and stay resilient. I have learned a great deal about myself and my capabilities.
Today, I wake each morning with the energy and mindset to do just that. Every day presents a new opportunity to live fully and cherish those who matter most. I am mindful that I have been given another day to make a positive impact within my community and beyond. I am grateful for each breath I take and do not take it for granted.
