Hidden Gems: Meet Shekita Moore of Sweet Licks Brownies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shekita Moore.

Hi Shekita, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
What can I say, I love brownies! I realized that there were so many local cookie companies out there but no local brownie companies. Most cookie companies that do offer brownies only have one or two brownie flavors. I’ve always love to bake sweets like cookies, cakes and of course, brownies. Sweet Licks is a home-based brownie company that I started at the beginning of this year. I currently have about 15 different brownie flavors that I offer. All of my brownie recipes are made from scratch with quality ingredients. I have turned popular cookie flavors into a Sweet Licks brownies flavor.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The current pandemic has brought some challenges, especially since Sweet Licks began operating at the beginning of the year. There have been some challenging obstacles, but I have learned how to adapt and to continue to get promote my business. There has been a lot of trial and error in the creation of the brownies as well. And I have thrown away quite a few pans of brownies because I believe in quality products because that is what builds your reputation.

Sweets Licks is a local home-based brownie company that offers over 15 different brownie flavors made from scratch. There is a weekly rotating menu of flavors that are offered for weekend pickups and deliveries.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I have been lucky to have been able to bring a dream into reality. Everything has not been perfect or gone as planned, but I have the determination to keep going.
