Today we’d like to introduce you to Spencer Eastwood.
Hi Spencer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got into commercial laundry after noticing Dallas businesses struggling to find reliable laundry partners. Restaurants dealt with inconsistent service. Hotels couldn’t get fast turnaround. Medical offices needed someone who understood sanitation but also cared about the relationship.
I had a background in business operations and saw a gap. Instead of treating commercial laundry like a commodity, I wanted to build real partnerships with business owners.
So I started Dallas Commercial Laundry with a simple approach: show up when we say we will, deliver quality every time, and make it painless for busy owners to outsource their laundry.
The early days meant cold calls and lots of listening. What had previous services gotten wrong? What actually made their days easier? Those conversations shaped everything we do. Businesses wanted flexible scheduling, someone
who answered the phone, and pricing without surprises.
We started small with a handful of accounts. Word spread through referrals. One restaurant manager would recommend us to another. A hotel GM would mention us at a networking event.
Today we serve restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, salons, gyms, and spas across Dallas-Fort Worth. The approach hasn’t changed: treat every client’s linens like they matter, because to their business, they do.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not smooth at all. Every business owner who says it was easy is either lying or forgetting the hard parts.
The biggest early challenge was trust. Commercial laundry isn’t glamorous, but it’s critical. A restaurant running low on clean linens during dinner rush is a real problem. Hotels need fresh towels and sheets every single day. Getting businesses to switch from their current provider to an unknown name took time. I had to prove reliability one delivery at a time.
Cash flow was another reality check. Commercial accounts pay on net terms, so I’d cover labor and supplies upfront while waiting 30 to 60 days for payment. Managing that gap while trying to grow meant watching every dollar.
Equipment breakdowns taught me patience. When a commercial washer goes down, you don’t get to pause. Clients still expect their linens on schedule. I learned quickly to build relationships with repair technicians and keep backup plans ready.
Staffing has its own challenges. Finding people who show up consistently and take pride in the work isn’t automatic. Building a team that shares your standards takes trial and error.
And honestly, some clients just aren’t the right fit. Learning to say no to accounts that would stretch us too thin or demand unrealistic turnarounds was a lesson that came with a few painful experiences first.
Every obstacle forced me to get better at something. That’s the tradeoff.
We’ve been impressed with Dallas Commercial Laundry, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dallas Commercial Laundry provides pickup and delivery laundry services for businesses across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We handle linens, towels, uniforms, and specialty textiles for restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, salons, gyms, and spas.
What sets us apart is responsiveness. Most commercial laundry operations treat you like a number. You call with a problem and get voicemail. You need to adjust your schedule and nobody gets back to you for days. We answer the phone. We solve problems the same day. That sounds basic, but it’s rare in this industry.
We also build custom solutions around each client’s needs. A busy restaurant has different demands than a day spa. A medical office needs sanitation standards that a gym doesn’t. We learn each client’s operation and tailor our service to fit, rather than forcing everyone into the same box.
Turnaround time is another thing we’re known for. Most clients get their laundry back within 24 to 48 hours. For businesses that need faster service, we offer same-day options. When you’re running low on clean towels, waiting a week isn’t acceptable.
What I’m most proud of is the repeat business. We don’t lock clients into long contracts. They stay because the service works. When someone refers us to another business owner, that means more than any marketing campaign.
For readers considering outsourcing their commercial laundry, I’d say this: the right partner saves you time, reduces headaches, and lets you focus on running your business. The wrong one creates problems you didn’t have before. We aim to be the partner you forget about because everything just works.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck plays a bigger role than most business owners want to admit. We like to credit hard work and smart decisions, and those matter, but timing and chance are real factors.
Good luck showed up early. I started the business right as Dallas was booming. New restaurants and hotels were opening constantly. The demand was there before I had to create it. If I’d launched during a downturn, the story might look different.
I also got lucky with a few early clients who took a chance on an unproven company. They could have stayed with their existing provider. Instead, they gave me an opportunity to prove myself. Those accounts became the foundation for everything else.
Bad luck has visited too. Equipment failures at the worst possible moments. A key employee quitting without notice right before a busy stretch. A major client closing their business unexpectedly, taking a chunk of revenue with them.
What I’ve learned is that luck evens out over time. You can’t control it, but you can control how prepared you are when it arrives. Good luck means nothing if you’re not ready to capitalize on it. Bad luck hurts less when you’ve built cushion into your operations.
I’d rather be lucky than good, but I’d rather be prepared than either.
