I began by handcrafting leather journals at my kitchen table, just wanting to create something real and personal in a world full of mass-produced products. What started as a creative outlet quickly grew into a passion for making personalized, handcrafted leather goods that tell a story.
As I started sharing my work, people connected not just with the products but with the thought and care behind them. That connection inspired me to build Ox & Pine into what it is today—a small team of artisans dedicated to creating premium leather gifts made in the USA. Every item we make, from custom journals and keychains to luggage tags and corporate gifts, is cut, stitched, and personalized by hand using full-grain leather that only gets better with time.
Over the years, our focus has grown beyond individual gifts. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Business is never a smooth road! There are daily challenges like machines breaking, raw materials out of stock, website glitches, and the list goes on. Then, there are those longterm challenges that you try to chip away at – growth year over year, hiring new team members, etc. It’s being willing to figure things out as they come and look ahead to other problems you may face. I’ve had some great business mentors and coaches over the years that still continue to help me look ahead and solve problems coming up and ones right in front of my that day.
