Hidden Gems: Meet Sul Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sul Lee.

Hi Sul, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up with a father who was a CEO who operates a company. Growing up, I was told several times as to how difficult it is to run a business. Being a leader is a lonely job. During a difficult time and when things are overwhelming, as a leader, you still have to make a tough decision and believe that is the right decision. Furthermore, internally you still have to encourage your employees with a positive attitude when things are just as scary and uncertain for the owner and business leaders too. Running a business is tough, and it is not for everyone yet. For those who do, we want to be there as your trusted advisor. That was our inspiration for Sul Lee Law Firm. We want to help business owners and leaders make right decisions for their business and help them understand that we are here to help. It’s hard to be reasonable and rational when legal issues arise and sometimes, it’s hard to know if your business is in compliance. We want to guide business leaders and owners so they can focus on their business survive and grow.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It is never smooth and that’s why it’s challenging and rewarding. My biggest struggle was going through motherhood and being the business owner. It is very hard to replace a business owner role when I just had my two children. I came back ten days after my first baby’s birth and seven days after my second baby. It was a daily struggle trying to grow the business and also be available for my kids. And it is still a struggle trying to be available for the family and yet growing your business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in small to medium-sized businesses. In particular, we focus on minority business owners and companies from abroad. We handle business and intellectual property law in particular. I am a rare breed in my field-I am a minority female who does litigation work-which has been in a boys club for the longest time. We represent minorities and foreigners because we understand how difficult and hard it is to run a business in a country that they are not familiar. But the important thing to understand is that America is really open to it and also is the judicial system but only if you understand how to represent yourself. This country will embrace your reasoning and belief if it is communicated in the right way. Our firm represents those and is the voice for them.

I am most proud of representing them and show who they really are. We are not the familiar face you see-but our voice is convincing, but it has to be communicated in a proper format and right channel. We know how to do it, we’ve been done this and have been successful. Our firm has been recognized as the fastest-growing law firm in the US and mainstream recognizes us as a successful law firm. That’s how I feel about most of my clients’ business-they are a successful business in the mainstream in all senses -I want them to feel proud of themselves for their success because that’s ultimately what we have achieved.

What does success mean to you?
I believe success is to strive to be better and acting toward that direction. It could be a small step, but making that small step toward the right direction is a success.
