Today we’d like to introduce you to Teimesha Holland
Teimesha, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story is a long one, so I will try not to bore you too much… Just kidding.
I started in this business by accident. I began making treats for the kids’ classrooms when they were younger. That turned into a great passion. It gave and still gives me great joy to create with cake. One day, I prayed and asked God to show me what my purpose was in life. Well, they say be careful what you ask for. The next thing I know, I had a registered DBA, was having bake sales and using the profits to fund the different clubs at the school, making lunches and winter essentials bags for the unhoused population and donate to the Lupus Foundation.
My mother and I both are Lupus warriors. It’s not an easy disease to have, but I make the most of every day by loving those I love and loving what I do. And I have God and my mom to thank for my strength and resilience.
Today, I still work a full time job, but I spend every free moment I have taking and making orders. Creating makes me happy and I want nothing more than to live life one cupcake at a time and Bake life happy!!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I could say it has, but that would be a bit of a stretch. The biggest struggle that I have had is time. Since I have always worked full time to support my little family (me and my two kids), along with being involved in their never ending activities, it left little time to focus on anything else. But I did manage to squeeze in some time here and there. Now, I have my wonderful fiancé, who is not only my biggest supporter and cheerleader, but also the one that pushes me to move forward towards my goals.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Taylor Made Treats specializes in cupcakes with very unique and gourmet flavors. I am known for not only my cakes looking good, but since I make EVERYTHING from scratch, the taste compares to no other.
What sets me apart from others, is my dedication to giving what I consider a perfect product to my clients. And that includes great customer service.
I am most proud of the fact that I my treats speak for me even when I’m not in the room. Most of my clientele is from word of mouth and referrals.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
As of right now, I can say that I have been pretty conservative with the risks. But as I stated before, God has put me on this path and I fully intend to be obedient to His word. So I will one day soon fully step out on faith.
