Hidden Gems: Meet Tina Berg of Tina Berg, Realtor® with kwLonestar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Berg.

Hi Tina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a daughter of immigrant parents, who moved to the United States from Mexico when I was two months old. I grew up in a small town in West Texas. I was raised to value hard work, diligence, respect for authority, and never take the privilege of living in America for granted.

After graduating from high school, I spent several years living in Mexico. My family and I purchased a 200-acre farm that had never been farmed. We developed the raw land to irrigated farmland and grew corn, alfalfa, and wheat. During my tenure in Mexico, I learned to understand and speak Spanish, while I taught English in a private school. I became more familiar with the rich culture from the vibrant flavors of food, to the expression in the folk dances, to the strength of family ties that are beautifully woven into the framework of the culture and heritage.

After spending several more years as a stay-at-home mom, I knew I needed a change. At this point, I was a single mom with a dream to create stability and security around me. Desperate to create a better life for my children, I had searched for a career opportunity that would afford unlimited potential without a ceiling on my income, and one that would allow me to work a schedule on my terms. A good friend suggested I had the qualities to be amazing in Real Estate Sales. I enrolled in real estate school that same day and took the plunge.

I am reminded of what my mentor told me at the time, “Burn the ships.” This adage dates back to Hernán Cortéz arriving in the New World in 1519. Upon his arrival, he made the ultimate statement to his companions by destroying his ships on the shore. Like Cortez, “No Turning Back”, became my motto.

Thanks to my amazing clients who trusted me with the purchase and/or sale of their most valuable assets, I built a business that changed my life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would say my challenge has been building a network from ground level two times because we had moved, and I didn’t have many established connections that facilitated me getting enough business. As I made connections, through working a lot of open houses, networking events, church functions, etc., I developed some of the most amazing relationships with my clients, many of who are my close friends today.

Another challenge in the Real Estate Industry are shifts in the market. From record-low interest rates just last year to the highest rates seen in 20 years, I am constantly educating myself on how to navigate the challenges this presents to my clients and strategize the most effective ways to help them win regardless.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a Real Estate Salesperson and Realtor®. As a Realtor®, I am a member of the National Association of Realtors and subscribe to the NAR Code of Ethics.

I am passionate about Residential Real Estate Sales. I love real estate because it opens doors to create pathways for families to build wealth. For many, it changes the entire trajectory of their legacy. It has been said that the net worth of a homeowner is 2.8 times that of a non-homeowner. Homeownership is truly the fulfillment of the American Dream.

My brand cornerstone is my Integrity. Win-Win or No Deal is the standard I live by. I am not just opening doors, but I provide my clients with the knowledge to make an educated decision for them and their families. Their goals become my goals.

I am organized, meticulous, quick to communicate, and am always researching to keep myself educated on today’s market and the market trends projected ahead. I value building lasting relationships with my clients.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I love to give and give back! One thing that most people who know me may not know is that my career is the catalyst for my Purpose Project. I will always be in real estate because I love it and believe I can have it all! I have a goal that my real estate career will provide me with the resources to be able to oversee operations for a Safe House for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. My dream is to provide every possible service needed, in an environment that restores their dignity, makes them and their children feel safe, provides therapy, legal services, job placement, and training opportunities, and helps them discover a pathway to financial independence.
