Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Todaro.
Hi Tina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in Florida but raised in a small country in South America with big-hearted people. I was always a very intuitive child, and my family on my mother’s side, of Cuban descent were catholic but very much open to a wider interpretation of the spiritual world, especially my grandmother and her sisters. They always told my mom I was gifted, but I remember eavesdropping and thinking it’s just my imagination. A skeptic from a very young age as well!
As early as my very first high school years, I began to feel curious about the metaphysical side of life; becoming trained as a Reiki Teacher, Akashic reader, learning about energy work, practicing manifesting, meditation, looking back life was getting me ready for the work I’m doing today.
I did many things, learned in martial arts, went to vet school, trained endurance horses, became a reining horse trainer for many years, and on the side my intuitive hobby grew.
I never stopped learning, and I never will; currently now setting myself up for future skills I want to acquire.
As I came to the US to become a horse trainer, I decided to start my hobby online. I had never done online readings, and I was curious because you hear all sorts of rules of how things work, but I was always one to figure things out by experience. The world can tell me what I can and can’t do, and so I went for it.
That slowly brought me into the community, I started growing and having clients all over the world; and funny enough, that got me thinking that I wanted to engage with my own local community a bit more.
So, I decided to put myself out there by doing fairs and events. That was my first step before where I’m currently standing today.
At a certain point when I was at a crossroads, I once again asked myself the same question that ventured me to a new life in the US: if I could do anything in the world, what would I be doing, and how? The answer was a metaphysical shop.
Before I blinked, the opportunity was presented; I dreamed of a school, a safe place, a spiritual community, and a place for people to find like-minded individuals and, share their story, feel understood. I found a like-minded spirit that had a similar vision, Deanna and Sacred Journey Experience was born.
Now a little after its founding, I find myself in a moment of growth and expansion, many things have changed, and life gave me a beautiful surprise to surround me with such a loving, supportive community as I found with the metaphysical people in DFW area.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can’t say it has been a smooth road, I’ve had to think outside the box a lot to even be able to start my business. We had to find a place that we could afford, and that was able to help us building Sacred Journeys community as we envisioned it. That meant we started in a suits and salons place, surrounded by stylist, and massage therapist, even lawyers.
I had to learn everything from scratch, knew nothing about running a store, and having been raised in a different country, even the way taxes worked was unfamiliar, so that in itself with trial and error, was something I had to learn on the go.
Driving was another challenge: I lived 1 hr. and a half away, close to the Oklahoma border in a small country town, that meant (for a whole year) I was driving with my dog, 3 to 6 hrs. a day tending to the store and my other job which was being a horse trainer.
By the time I was close to moving, which was a struggle all on its own, I would close the store, sometimes at 9 pm, and really start crying because I had to drive home and I didn’t have the energy. There was no phone call, no podcast, no music that would make the trip shorter at that point.
Luckily now I live 25 min away, and I couldn’t be happier.
My next challenge is expanding, I have plans to be moving to a new location in June, and I’ve been waiting since December for it to happen and it’s finally here; we have a date, it is June!
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Sacred Journey Experience LLC?
We are a small metaphysical store in North Richland Hills that aims to become a place of comfort, home away from home for those people who are in their own journey of spiritual truth, no matter what path of life they come from. We want it to be a place where everyone can feel welcome and find or learn about the different tools that can be used to connect with yourself and find clarity.
Not just a safe place where people can learn but also a place they can come to feel heard, understood, and supported.
I’ve been a tarot reader for over 20 years now, a Reiki Master for over 10, recently a Hawaiian Healing practitioner. This brings interaction with people at their most vulnerable moments. It has taught me a lot about walking in someone else’s shoes, and most of all helped me gain insight of myself, and what it means to grow, how we shouldn’t judge others to harshly because we are all capable of the greatest fallacies and the greatest virtues.
As a place of learning, we seek to offer courses that in a very practical manner give you the tools for your own self-discovery and the knowledge for empowerment and independence. This has created a very open atmosphere where people support each other because sacred journey isn’t about just one person but about all; because we learn the most when we share our experiences and learn from each other. It’s a place where there is not one teacher, but we all teach, and we all learn what skills we have mastered.
As we expand, we are not only going to be opening our doors to more seekers but also to those professional intuitives that need a place to offer their service, bringing the community closer. We are all unique, the same way no two artists are alike, no two healers or intuitives are alike, the world needs what we each bring to the table and we want that to be shown in our space. We will have more courses available with a variety of teachers and a space not just for adults to grow but families and kids to be able to explore their own spirituality safely and enjoyably.
These are big plans, and we are just growing, but it won’t be long before you see us making this a reality.
Our first steps have been offering reiki retreats and sessions, akashic records, past life regressions, Hawaiian healing, animal spirit sessions, growing your intuition courses, reiki shares, shadow workshop, candle workshop, astrology courses, tarot reading courses, deck swaps, and every month new and better services offered. Our variety of teachers will expand the moment we set foot in our bigger space, and we are excited for it!
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Yes! I’m a reader, so I can say that it’s mostly books. One of my favorites was Focus from Urgen Wolf, Paulo Coelho (so many of his) like The pilgrimage, Brida, The Witch of Portobello, Veronica decides to die are a few. I re-read them when I feel I need to gain insights to myself; The Tao Te Ching is a short read that has so many layers of lessons and really gets you out there. Those are a few, my oracle cards Pocket Kuan Yin really help me when I need guidance as well, it’s a way of the universe to simply let me know it watching over for me, and that helps me have patience.
