Hidden Gems: Meet TinTin Wynn of TinTin Wynn Photography & Films

Today we’d like to introduce you to TinTin Wynn.

TinTin Wynn

Hi TinTin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In a world where many photographers discover their passion early in life, my path to becoming a professional photographer began with an unused Christmas present. “My wife kept asking for a ‘nice camera’ because she didn’t like her cell phone photos,” I recall with a smile. “When the camera sat untouched after nearly a year, I couldn’t bear to see it collecting dust.”

What started as a simple desire to put good equipment to use quickly rekindled a long-dormant passion. I had taken photography classes in high school nearly four decades earlier, and as I reacquainted myself with the craft through YouTube tutorials and practice sessions, I found myself falling in love with the art form all over again.

The transition from hobby to profession happened organically. In early 2021, I began offering free family photo sessions, gradually building my portfolio with mini-sessions posted on Facebook. The real turning point came in March 2021, when two fellow church members asked me to photograph their weddings. “I said ‘YES!’ without hesitation,” I remember, “then spent the next two months learning everything I could about wedding photography.”

Those first weddings proved to be the catalyst for what would become a thriving business. Now in my fifth year as a professional photographer, my dedication to the craft has earned me recognition as one of the three best wedding photographers in Frisco, Texas, by Three Best Rated—an unsolicited honor that came just two and a half years into my journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The first year of rediscovering photography after nearly four decades was challenging but incredibly rewarding! I had so much to relearn about camera settings, and I’m grateful for the patience of those early clients who trusted me with their free portrait sessions, even when I was struggling with blurry photos and battling my own nerves about potentially letting them down. I knew so little—which camera brand to invest in, which lenses suited different styles of photography—the list of unknowns seemed endless.

I’m so thankful for the wealth of knowledge available through YouTube, which became my go-to resource for every question that arose. After each shoot, I would reflect on what went well and what could be improved, always eager to learn more. I also feel blessed to have found online courses from talented photographers like Scott Robert Lim, whose comprehensive course on photography and the business side of things was invaluable. His guidance on posing and workflow helped shape my foundation in ways I’m still grateful for today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
About My Business:

I’m TinTin Wynn, and I’m blessed to be the heart and lens behind TinTin Wynn Photography and Films in Frisco, Texas. What started as picking up an unused camera has grown into a thriving business serving couples and families throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond.

What I Do and Specialize In:

I’m grateful to specialize in wedding photography and videography, along with engagement sessions and marriage proposals. My approach is rooted in capturing authentic candid moments with a harmonious blend of editorial finesse. I’m passionate about documenting those real, unscripted moments that make each love story uniquely special.

What Sets Me Apart:

I believe what truly sets me apart is my commitment to creating images that are natural and timeless. My signature style features true-to-life colors with clean, crisp editing that will never look dated or over-processed. I use a technique I call “plan-dids” – simple prompts designed to create natural, candid interactions that result in authentic photographs. I blend “loose-editorial” with candid spontaneity, infusing storytelling techniques to produce imagery that’s cinematic, romantic, and enchanting.

I’m also incredibly honored to have been recognized as one of the Top 3 Best Wedding Photographers in Frisco, Texas by Three Best Rated – an unsolicited honor that came just two and a half years into my professional journey.

What I’m Most Proud Of:

I’m most proud of the relationships I build with my clients and the trust they place in me to capture their most precious moments. The fact that clients consistently mention my communication, professionalism, and quick turnaround times (often delivering preview photos within 1-2 days after weddings) means the world to me. I’m also deeply grateful for my 5-star rating from 65+ reviews and the kind words clients share about their experiences.

What I Want You to Know:

When you work with me, you can expect to laugh, have fun, and feel completely at ease. I believe the most beautiful photos happen when you’re just being yourselves – that’s where the magic lives! From gentle guidance on posing to thoughtful editing, everything I do is intentionally crafted to capture the genuine you. I offer customizable packages, multiple editing styles to match your vision, and I’m fully insured with $1,000,000 general liability coverage.

Whether it’s the most important day of your life or the small, sacred moments in between, your love story deserves to be captured beautifully. Twenty years from now, your photos will still feel as fresh and authentic as the day they were taken. That’s my promise to you, and I’m so looking forward to making that happen for you.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
My philosophy on risk? You’ve got to take the leap! Ironically, the riskiest move in business is playing it safe. Here’s the thing—I literally picked up a camera after nearly four decades away from photography and just… went for it. Started with free family sessions, and before I knew it, five months later I was saying “YES!” to two weddings. Did I know what I was doing? Not entirely! But I accepted the jobs and then frantically learned everything I could to deliver.

Talk about jumping in headfirst, right?

Then, just one year later, I made another bold move—going full-time with my photography business. From what I’ve gathered, most photographers take 5-8 years before making that jump. Now, I’m not sharing this to toot my own horn or claim I’m some sort of business genius (trust me, there were plenty of sleepless nights and YouTube rabbit holes involved). I’m sharing this to encourage you: take the risk!

Whether you succeed or stumble, at least you tried. And here’s the beautiful truth—the only way to truly fail is to give up. So don’t. Take that scary leap. You might just surprise yourself with how high you can fly.
