Hidden Gems: Meet Tye Threats of Write the Vision Consulting Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tye Threats.

Hi Tye, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I grew up in the corporate world from the young age of 17. I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, a love for learning, and a unique ability to creatively solve complex problems. When I first entered the workforce, I had no clue that the marriage of my passion and experience would later lead me to where I am today.

Throughout my career, I found myself in different sectors of the industry, such as healthcare and retail, but once I entered the financial services sector, I fell in love. Being that this part of the industry is mostly dominated by males, I was often the minority on two accounts, a woman and a person of color. Although hard at times to be in a space of constantly proving your value, training other males to take roles you are qualified for, and to earn your seat at the table so to speak, I excelled and gained some of my greatest advocates in my career.

As I continued to progress the ranks in my career from entry-level to executive roles, I started to realize what I excelled at most in corporations was my ability to bring clarity to chaos. I had an innate ability to recognize gaps, roll up my sleeves and create a strategy on how to solve it, no matter the problem. I could grab the attention of leaders, present ways to solve problems, demonstrate it, and create a streamlined process for others to do it across the organization.

This earned me recognition and continuous trust in any organization I worked. I was seen as a thought leader and trusted to lead and solve many problems, be it: product growth or development, technology transitions, program development for training gaps, you name it.

There was a moment in my career, I worked for an organization that had many problems and as a result several employees were quitting. I’ll be honest, I was considering joining that number, but instead, when deciding to turn in my notice I had a candid conversation with one of the leaders about the problems and ways to solve it. I felt compelled to share the insight so they would understand what was going on and assess. I was countered with an offer to stay in another role, specifically developed for me, to build out an employee retention program and to create solutions to other gaps that were driving employees away.

I did, I excelled, and this is what drove my desire to be a business consultant.

I chose to hang out in corporate a bit longer, continue learning through experience, education, and testing my ability to continuously produce results.

A year after the pandemic, I reached a point in my career roadmap where I was searching for something that wasn’t on it. I couldn’t put my finger on what it was, but I wanted more. I had several mentors that encouraged me to reach outside of my comfort zone and consider working with start-up or mid-sized companies looking to grow. They reminded me of my abilities and challenged me to look at the work that energized me most. For me, it was a no-brainer, I am driven by creating solutions to challenges.

While interviewing for an executive role in a start-up company, I came across a group of consultants and it sparked something within, creating a full circle moment to my desire to be a business consultant. I kept that connection, built on the relationship, and later decided to take a leap of faith and start my own consulting group. That leap of faith landed me with an opportunity to take on my first client, a Fortune 400 company. It’s unbelievable to see myself as a CEO (She-EO) of my own company, taking on huge opportunities while creating career opportunities for others. Although I’m at the early stages of growth there have been continuous opened doors and I look forward to seeing how much I elevate from here – the sky’s the limit.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Taking a leap of faith never comes without challenge; there is a constant battle of faith over fear. You will constantly ask yourself some days if you made the right choice because it’s different, and that has been my biggest challenge. I’ve been in the corporate world for about 22 years, and now I’m building my own organization. The key for me is to remember why I started and to look at the doors that have opened. This gives me confidence that I am in the right place in life, courage to not doubt myself, and focus to continue building.
