Hi Will, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Back in 06 while we were still in High School, we pulled influences from the art community, skate and hip hop and blended it with the idea of mixing style and a hustler’s mindset. The name “Matrimoney” came from a desire to reflect a dedication to success and ambition, with “married to the money” being the driving force behind the brand. In 2007, We released our first collection of 8 t-shirts, cut and sewn overseas. Those initial designs were just the beginning, but they set the tone for a brand that aimed to represent hard work, passion, and street culture.
By 2011, Matrimoney had gained some traction, and we were working with over 65 retailers as well as ecomm sites like Karmaloop & Kazbah. We were also making waves in Dallas, collaborating with artists and like Mac Miller, Big Sean, Dorrough, Trae the Truth and countless others. Celebrities like Rick Ross, Teyana Taylor, and Michael Crabtree wore our gear, which helped solidify the brand’s presence.
In 2014, I split off to explore other ventures, but the love for Matrimoney never faded. Fast forward to 2024, and I’ve relaunched the brand with a new logo and new vision. Today, Matrimoney is more than just a clothing brand—it’s about creating a community that represents ambition, style, and the drive to succeed. I’m excited to continue growing and pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely not been smooth, but that’s what makes the journey worthwhile. There have been a lot of struggles along the way, starting with building the brand in the early days. When we first started in 2006, the challenge was finding the right voice for Matrimoney in a competitive market. We began small, with limited resources, and had to make a name for ourselves from the ground up.
One of the biggest struggles came in 2014 when the team split and we ventured into other projects. That was a tough transition, and for a while, Matrimoney took a backseat. Rebuilding the brand and coming back in 2024 after a long hiatus has been another challenge. I had to reignite the passion and align the new vision with the values that had made the brand successful in the first place.
Another challenge has been navigating the constantly shifting landscape of fashion and business. The digital marketing space, especially with social media and paid ads, has changed so much in the last few years. There were moments when things felt uncertain, especially when trying to maintain growth and adapt to new consumer behaviors.
Back when we initially launched the brand – there was no instagram, facebook was new and myspace was the IT thing. The internet was the wild west in the sense of gaining engagement.
But each struggle taught me something valuable, and that resilience has helped me continue to push forward.

Matrimoney is a brand built on the ethos of hustle and success. At our core, we represent the drive to achieve more—married to the money, so to speak. What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be a road trip I took with my grandmother, aunt, and mother to Los Angeles to visit my uncle. My family is incredibly close-knit and small, so these trips were a big deal for us. During the summers, I’d spend a week in LA visiting him while school was out, but this particular trip was special. It was over Christmas break, and we all piled into a minivan for a road trip to LA. We had such a great time – enjoying the beach, sharing laughs, and bonding over good food. Looking back, it’s especially meaningful because it was the last major family trip I took with my grandmother and aunt before they passed away. That memory will always hold a special place in my heart
