Hidden Gems: Meet Yelyzaveta Havrylchenko of SlaWax Waxing and Sugaring Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yelyzaveta Havrylchenko.

Yelyzaveta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey in hair removal over 10 years ago in Ukraine. For seven years, I worked hard to perfect my craft and helped thousands of clients feel smooth and confident. When the war began, I had to leave my home and spent a year working in Poland.

But I always dreamed of living in America. Since returning to Ukraine wasn’t possible, my family and I decided to take a leap of faith and chase our dreams here. Once I arrived, I didn’t waste any time — I completed esthetician school, earned my license, and opened my small but very beloved business, SlaWax Waxing and Sugaring Studio.

I specialize in waxing and sugaring, and I’m also a certified ItalWax trainer, proudly sharing my knowledge and experience with other professionals through training sessions.

Over the past year, I’ve built a wonderful and loyal client base, received hundreds of positive reviews, and I’m always excited to welcome new clients and make new connections every day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. A lot has happened over these 10 years, and there were many moments that tested my strength.

One of the first challenges came when I became a mom. I had to learn how to balance my passion for my work with caring for my family. It wasn’t easy, but I think I did pretty well — now my daughter is older and loves helping me in the studio. She enjoys arranging wax jars, organizing spatulas, and even putting out candies for clients.

The most difficult time, of course, was when the war started in Ukraine. I had to leave everything behind and flee the country with just a backpack. Starting over in a completely new place, speaking a different language, and rebuilding my career from zero was incredibly hard. But I truly feel blessed — along the way, I’ve met so many kind people and amazing clients who have supported and inspired me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
SlaWax is a cozy waxing and sugaring studio based in Arlington, Texas, where every client is treated with warmth, care, and attention to detail. My goal has always been to create a space where people can feel comfortable and confident in their own skin. I specialize in waxing and sugaring services and take pride in using only high-quality professional products. As a certified ItalWax trainer, I also share my knowledge through professional training sessions for other estheticians who want to improve their technique and confidence.

Soon, SlaWax will be expanding with a brand-new service using the Zemits HydroVerstand Pro 7-in-1 facial system, allowing clients to experience advanced skincare treatments and even more comprehensive results. At SlaWax, it’s not just about smooth skin — it’s about helping people feel beautiful, cared for, and empowered.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I truly believe that no success happens alone. I’m incredibly grateful to my family for always supporting me — especially my husband, who encouraged me to follow my dreams even when things were uncertain, and my daughter, who inspires me every single day.

I also want to thank my amazing clients — they are the heart of SlaWax. Their trust, kind words, and loyalty motivate me to grow and give my best every day. And of course, I’m thankful to the ItalWax team for their support and inspiration in my professional journey. I wouldn’t be where I am today without all these wonderful people around me.
