Hidden Gems: Meet Zoe Martin of The Zoe Martin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoe Martin.

Hi Zoe, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After losing my sister, Kristina, to breast cancer at the age of 40, I felt an intense loss. I wished we had preserved her story for my niece, her only child. It opened my eyes to a problem so many families face: life moves quickly, and the stories that matter most often go untold until it’s too late.

I realized that I could help families capture moments through multi-generational portraits, but soon realized they needed more than that. They needed something beyond a photo – not just art and heirlooms that could live on for generations, but a recorded documentary of their life stories. That’s when I decided to pivot, offering an elevated, concierge Heira Experience™ for preserving legacies through custom designed portraits, life story documentary films, and heirloom-quality albums.

Today, my mission is simple: to make sure every family has the chance to hold onto the voices, values, and memories that tell their story. Because life is short, but your legacy doesn’t have to be.

This new direction allows me to serve not just families, but businesses, and communities in a way that feels timeless and meaningful. It’s also a beautiful way for me to honor Kristina’s legacy. A percentage of every session is donated to The Bridge Breast Network here in DFW.

Every project we create honors someone’s life, values, and journey. For me, this work is more than a business. It’s a mission to make sure no story goes untold, and every legacy gets the love it deserves. Imagine your family pressing play on your story generations from now. Unfortunately, our family missed that opportunity, but yours doesn’t have to.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. When I decided to pivot from headshots and personal branding, the weight of grief was still fresh for me. Not long after losing Kristina, I volunteered for a session with Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, an organization that offers remembrance portraits to families who have lost a baby. I knew the timing was delicate, but my heart said, “If you don’t go, this family won’t have images to remember their child.”

What I didn’t expect was how much it would stir my own grief. When I arrived, I learned there was an older sibling who would never get to meet this little baby, and it broke me. I found myself in tears, sharing with a nurse that my own sister had just passed. She was so kind, and in that moment, I pulled myself together to give that family something priceless: a way to remember and honor their little one.

That experience confirmed something in me: people need ways to hold on to the ones they love. That realization led me to rethink my business. We do more than just capture photos, we preserves legacies.

Today, every Heira Experience™ I take on is rooted in that purpose. It’s also why I partner with organizations like The Bridge Breast Network, donating a portion of every session to help those fighting breast cancer – because honoring Kristina is woven into everything I do.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a storytelling company with one focus: helping people preserve what matters most – their stories. We specialize in creating an elevated, concierge Heira Experience™ that transforms memories into tangible heirlooms: custom framed portraits, legacy documentary films, and beautifully designed albums that become part of your family history.

What sets us apart is how personal and luxurious the experience is. We don’t just record stories, we guide you through the entire process, from thoughtful conversations to custom, museum-quality artwork. Everything we create is designed to be displayed, shared, and passed down for generations. Imagine a museum quality painted portrait of your family hanging prominently for generations.

I’m most proud that our brand reflects purpose. Every detail, from the way we plan your interview conversation to the way we design your framed portraits, is about honoring life. And because this work was born out of my own loss, we give back by donating a portion of every Heira Experience™ to The Bridge Breast Network, helping those who are fighting breast cancer.

For your readers, I want you to know this: your legacy matters. If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could hold on to this memory forever,” that’s what we do. We make sure your story, your voice, and your values live on long after today. Our tagline says it all: Seen. Heard. Remembered.

What’s next?
We’re in the middle of an exciting new chapter. What started as a simple idea, to help families capture their stories, has grown into something much bigger. After listening to our clients and supporters, we realized people don’t just want their memories preserved; they want experiences that feel deeply personal and elevated.

That’s why we’re rebranding The Zoe Martin to reflect this vision. In the coming months, we’ll introduce offerings designed to make legacy preservation more meaningful than ever: hand-painted portraits, personalized family websites, and even bespoke retreat experiences where families can come together to celebrate their stories in unforgettable ways.

Collaborating with those who have a future focused legacy mindset, we are looking for opportunities to bring value to the community through a podcast and potentially workshops as well. What started as a little flicker of desire to honor Kristina has more potential than I could have ever imagined.

The heart of our mission remains the same: to ensure your story, and the people you love most, are remembered beautifully. But we’re dreaming bigger so you can too.
