Inspiring Conversations with Adam Hammett of Serious Results

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Hammett.

Hi Adam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I began training others almost 20 years ago when working at GNC and noticing that people would spend a ton of money on supplements but never make any progress toward their goals. I’d recommend supplements and write workout programs for them. Eventually, this led to training full time. I have trained people as an employee of box gyms, had several iterations of my own training studio over the years, and have even partnered with other trainers to share training space.

My wife, Debra, is also a coach and joined forces with me almost ten years ago. When the last place we were working out of decided to close their doors three years ago, we knew we had to open our space again. No other gym would have been able to absorb us & our clientele which had grown significantly over the years. We found the space in Parker Square, Flower Mound, and opened the doors on November 20, 2017. I found people would rather be pushed, be held accountable, and watch their physical and mental strength increase versus going to a general fitness class or boot camp that had very little impact to what they wanted to accomplish. Because of that, we’ve developed a training protocol that wastes no effort or time. People are busy. The worst thing we can envision is spending two years trying something that doesn’t get you any closer to where you want to be.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a trainer at a box gym was a challenge because of having to follow their pricing structure that was rigid and made the very dedicated athlete who could barely afford $30/session pay the same price as the undisciplined guy who drove a Lamborghini and dropped $30 on breakfast alone. The commitment and sacrifices of those two types of people are very different. Another obstacle for our region is locating a training space at a reasonable lease rate, as well as finding other quality coaches to join in the space. There are a high number of coaches in the area, but coaches that meet our requirements is a challenge. Of course, 2020 handed the whole world the challenge of balancing health safety, business revenue requirements, and governmental restrictions. We had to close doors completely in the Spring and are hoping to avoid that in the future!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As personal trainers we people learn good old fashioned strength and conditioning and how to fuel themselves properly. Since the majority of our clients are aged 40 and up, our priority is to keep them strong so that their quality of life improves as they age. Being able to live in action is of high importance. We have clients who START doing athletic events in their 40s-50s because of what they’ve achieved by working with us. Of course, for some, living actively simply means being able to pick up their grandkids and keep up with their energy.

What sets us apart is that we genuinely expect clients to grow and change versus just putting them through a cookie-cutter workout. Every workout is designed specifically for each client. We build strong relationships through heavy communication with our clients. The training programs are extensive, so we check-in frequently to know how they are responding – physically and mentally. If someone is struggling, that will impact how their next workout will be developed. We coach people in-person in our studio in Flower Mound or remotely. We also offer metabolic testing, nutrition coaching and mindset coaching.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Fishing is a favorite of my childhood and remains a favorite hobby today.
