Hi Dominque, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I wanted to celebrate my husband’s 50th Birthday on an island, reservations were made, the guest list was set and suddenly I had cancel those plans yet figure out a way to celebrate his monumental birthday in a safe and special way. COVID bought my original plans to a screeching halt. I decided to turn our back yard into Jamaica for the day! I began to search for ways to celebrate people in a safe manner. I searched the internet and came across Yard Card Queen. I reached out to Sarah Davis and after our first virtual meeting, I knew it was a perfect fit. We launched Yard Card Queen Harrisburg in late August-early September.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning and operating a successful business requires hard work and dedication. In the areas that may be troublesome for others, Sarah steps in and offers assistance, which is awesome. Throughout the past several months delays with shipping have been a challenge. The sooner you secure your reservation the better. The weather has been an obstacle especially frozen grounds, strong winds and snow, my husband Anthony typically does the staking. Looking back since we started I’d say overall it’s been smooth. We have a system that works for us.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a graduate of Hampton University as well as Hampton University Graduate College. I am a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. I am a Psychotherapist full time. In addition, my husband Anthony and I own three businesses. Yard Card Queen Harrisburg. We offer unique Yard Card Greeting Rentals , which are very reasonably priced. We tend to go the extra mile for our customers, if orders are placed in a timely manner, we try to meet at least one interest that is requested. No matter the occasion, our signs are sure to be a BIG hit! We have yard signs for birthdays, graduations, proposals, gender reveals, memorials, engagements, anniversaries, congratulations, new baby announcements, bridal showers, retirements, welcome home, open house, fundraisers, school events, business events, real estate marketing, community events, and so many more occasions. The experts at YCQ provide some unique ideas for all events. Our high-quality signs are available in large letters, numbers, symbols, graphics, and more, so customers can display anything they want. We will deliver and install the yard sign, and we’ll be back promptly to remove it at the end of the rental period.
TeamMorganEnterprises LLC is our Janitorial Company. We, along with our staff, have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic to keep others safe. In many cases, we have provided free services we truly believe that we are blessed so that we can be a blessing to others. We also sponsor one local family during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season that is in need. Lastly, we own Papiyon Naturals, health care products. The common goal with our businesses is to provide outstanding customer service.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have several childhood memories that I’m fond of I can recall a memory for each season. My parents took my brother Don and I to Dinsey World a few times; that was one of my favorite places. I loved summer vacation one of my favorite childhood memories was swimming outback in our pool. I have always loved the water! Fall brings back memories of back to school, I was a life long learner. I always loved school in fact I earned perfect attendance grades K-12. Winter memories I can recall sledding with my brother and being excited to open Christmas gifts every year. Spring was a season that I recall memories of flowers blooming, picking daisies and random flowers from the yard for my Mother. It was also when Hersheypark opened and we would go toward the end of Spring.
