Inspiring Conversations with Adam Tripp of Mantra Recovery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Tripp.

Adam Tripp

Hi Adam, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and bred in Dallas, TX. My parents were addicts, and I bounced around often, leaving my grandparents to raise me primarily. I carried a strong sense of fear and apprehension throughout my childhood, and I was twelve years old when I discovered drugs as a solution to my maladjustment. I dove head-first into the lifestyle and was a full-blown heroin addict by the 8th grade. This addiction plagued the next twenty years of my life. Sparing the grimy details, I will say that my story includes jails, homelessness, and prison. Despite the many consequences, I had no desire to change until, In the summer of 2013, I landed in a residential drug treatment program where I spent the next thirty days trying something new. Though I wasn’t entirely sold on the paths to recovery presented there, I “faked it until I made it” and have been sober ever since. For me, it was the perfect storm. I began working in the drug treatment industry nine years ago and have explored numerous recovery pathways. It became apparent to me that there was a real need for unconventional recovery support services; The sector lacked open-mindedness. Thus, Mantra Recovery was born. I provide a handful of services, but primarily, I am an Interventionist and Wellness Coach for individuals affected by mental health and substance use disorders. I never imagined my life would turn out the way it has. I am humbly grateful.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Although our journey has had its ups and downs, overcoming industry narrow-mindedness has been our biggest challenge.

We’ve been impressed with Mantra Recovery, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the co-founder of Mantra Recovery. We provide Interventions, Wellness Coaching, Family Support, Safe Transport, Entheogenic Integration, and Wellness Companion services. We are based in Dallas, Texas, but travel nationwide for interventions and offer virtual coaching as needed. Our integrated approach truly encompasses the mind, body, and spirit. We pride ourselves on being accessible to all. Whether people have resources or not, we help them no matter what. Aside from personally providing our services, I create all of our marketing and social media content as well as handle the day-to-day business operations. What sets us apart is a client-centered approach and “outside the box” sensibility.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
