Inspiring Conversations with Airy Choi of Airys Family Dentistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Airy Choi.

Hi Airy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Airy Choi, and I’m the owner and general dentist of Airy’s Family Dentistry in Keller, Texas. Opening my practice on March 14, 2024 was the realization of a dream that started long before I ever held a dental handpiece — a vision of creating a space where patients feel safe, heard, and genuinely cared for.

I built this practice completely from the ground up, starting with just myself, one dental assistant, and a small front desk team. In the early days, I wore every hat — clinician, manager, marketer, and problem-solver — learning each step through perseverance and faith in my purpose.

Since then, we’ve grown into a multi-doctor, multi-hygienist practice with an incredible team that shares my passion for excellence and compassion. But the real success isn’t measured by growth alone — it’s measured by the trust my patients place in us every single day.

My mission is simple: to serve with integrity, lead with heart, and create a dental home where families feel empowered, educated, and confident. Everything I’ve built has been rooted in resilience, faith, and a deep belief that challenges don’t stop the dream — they shape it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — and I don’t think it was ever meant to be. Building a dental practice from scratch comes with a steep learning curve, long days, and constant problem-solving. There were countless moving parts happening all at once: construction timelines, city permits, inspections, and deadlines that kept shifting due to weather delays, holidays, and factors completely outside of my control.

One of the biggest challenges was navigating all of that while still actively working and seeing patients. I was balancing clinical care, decision-making for the build-out, vendor coordination, and administrative responsibilities simultaneously. It often felt like I was wearing ten different hats in a single day, with very little margin for error.

That process taught me patience, adaptability, and how to lead through uncertainty. I learned that progress doesn’t always look linear, and that flexibility is just as important as planning. Looking back, those challenges weren’t setbacks — they were foundational. They strengthened my ability to manage pressure, make thoughtful decisions, and stay grounded in my purpose.

In retrospect, it wasn’t easy or smooth — but it was meaningful. Every obstacle helped shape the kind of leader and practice owner I am today, and it reinforced why I started this journey in the first place: to build something intentional, resilient, and centered on truly caring for people.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Airys Family Dentistry?

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I view risk as a necessary part of growth — not something to fear, but something to approach with intention and courage. Some of the most meaningful progress in my life has come from stepping into the unknown with a clear vision and a strong work ethic.

Opening a dental practice from scratch was a significant risk — financially, professionally, and personally. I invested everything into building something I truly believed in, without guarantees, and trusted my ability to adapt, learn, and lead. One intentional decision I made early on was choosing not to invest heavily in marketing. Instead, I prioritized investing in the highest-quality equipment, advanced technology, and trusted dental labs so my patients could receive the best possible care from day one.

I handled all of the marketing myself and focused on organic growth through patient experience, referrals, and genuine community connections. To this day, I haven’t spent money on marketing firms or Google ads, and only invest a modest $50 per month on Facebook ads. I believe that when patients receive exceptional care, they become your strongest advocates.

I don’t see myself as reckless — I take calculated risks by gathering information, preparing thoroughly, and then committing fully. To me, risk is the bridge between comfort and achievement, and every meaningful milestone in my career has come from stepping forward with confidence and trusting myself to make it work.
