Inspiring Conversations with Ali McNew of Dallas Based Dogs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali McNew.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It starts 5 years ago when I used to go to White Rock Lake Dog Park every day with my dog, Hershel. I made a lot of friends and my dog park friends knew I had a previous background in animal rescue work and volunteering and that I was looking to get back into animal work. I didn’t know dog walking and pet sitting was in such a high demand in Dallas until one of my dog park friends mentioned that I should look into dog walking. It was a short conversation that changed my life forever. Shortly after I started using the Rover app and did pet sitting part-time while I worked other “day jobs” and eventually I was able to quit my day job and do pet sitting/dog walking full time. I like to tell people it’s meant to be because it just worked out exactly how it should have. In Sept 2021 I got my LLC and now I get to do what I love every single day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had my struggles as anyone does but I think my biggest struggle is finding work-life balance and finding time to relax. With the turn of the year, I take better care of myself so I can show up my best self to every dog walk, pet drop-in, or pet sit.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Dallas Based Dogs LLC is a dog walking/pet care company located in the heart of Uptown Dallas. I am highly rated on pet-sitting app, Rover. I have been in the animal care business since 2016 and have experience volunteering for rescues and working at an animal shelter. I am super proud to be familiar business amongst Dallasite pet parents.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is time management. I am a great internal clock now and can tell how long 30 minutes is without looking at a clock.

  • 30 Minute Dog Walk – $20.00
  • 60 Minute Dog Walk – $30.00
