Inspiring Conversations with Alyssa And Angel Garza of October Brew

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa And Angel Garza.

Hi Alyssa and Angel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started with a date, two people, one local coffee shop (Cuppa Espresso Bar), and a conversation that never really ended. Coffee became our thing: a reason to pause, a way to connect, and eventually a dream. It’s funny, because as individuals we loved getting to “escape” at a cafe, and now it’s how we rest and reconvene whether it’s from a local shop or our dining room table.

In 2020, we created the name October Brew from our love of fall and the concept of having fall flavors all year long. We launched October Brew Coffee in March of 2024, with nothing more than a vision, a borrowed setup, and a whole lot of heart. For our first couple private events, we rented equipment from a friend. Every cup we served brought us closer, not just to each other, but to a growing community that believed in what we were building and who supported our craft.

Little by little, cup by cup, we saved up enough to buy our own cart and coffee equipment and suddenly that dream felt real. What started as a passion project between two people in love became a mobile café where strangers became regulars, and regulars became friends. Our second year in business we began doing pop-ups at local businesses across Fort Worth; it started with Recluse Books, then Flipstone Vintage & Thrift to Doc’s Records and so many others. While we still plan on doing private events and pop-ups at the businesses we love…

The next chapter of OBC begins.

This February 1st, we’re opening our very first October Brew location tucked inside the cozy corners of Flipstone Vintage & Thrift. It’s still us, still coffee, and our vibe, just with walls and a whole lot of vintage charm.

We believe in comfort, in connection, and in crafting coffee with intention. Whether we’re on wheels or in a shop, October Brew is more than a place to grab a drink. It’s a feeling — and we’re so glad you’re here for it.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Challenges in business has always been something that we heard before starting OBC but after we said yes to our dream is when we finally understood what that meant! To start, funding or start up costs was an obstacle right away but we managed by renting out our coffee cart, espresso machine and grinder from a friend for the first few months. We set aside everything we made other than our renting costs, and saved up to purchase all of our own equipment. The quick way isn’t always the best way, we’ve found comfort in knowing that our story isn’t going to look like everyone else’s or even happen as fast, but thats whats made October Brew feel that much more special to us. Everything sort of unfolds the way it’s supposed to, you find new ways to make it happen because it means that much to you. There were other smaller challenges that got in the way like our car getting stolen two days before an event, and having to buy a new trailer which we use to load our equipment with. It hasn’t always been a smooth road but every obstacle makes you even more prepared for what the future may bring!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
October Brew is a coffee cart, and in 2026 will be a micro shop within a vintage clothing store. We bring a moody modern vibe with branding while creating cozy drinks that are fall-inspired. We also incorporated our hispanic culture by having an authentic family recipe Horchata Latte on the menu. Other favorites consists of our Maple Latte, Salted Cold Brew, and Pumpkin Latte. We’re most proud of our fall-inspired drinks and the fact that they are all made balanced between espresso taste and sweetness. We aren’t big fans of sugary drinks, and we love coffee so as a result we make sure to create all of our drinks balanced in taste. That “just right” is what we aim for.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For those starting out – don’t just chase trends. Lock down what makes you you first, and then the rest will come natural. Do your research and try out products (coffee beans, matcha, syrups, recipes) before starting your coffee cart. While social media is a great marketing tool, not getting caught up in it will save you from comparison and doubt. If this is truly the business you want to get into, being your most authentic self is what will set you apart.

Pricing:
