Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Hoover.
Alyssa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
With almost a decade of nursing experience, I have worked in many different departments within the healthcare system with the bulk being in critical care in the Emergency Department. I never want to be stagnant in my learning and have become a career student whether that gaining specialty certifications or advancing my degrees. The pandemic really opened my eyes to what I want out of my life and encouraged me to focus more on my self-care and work toward a better work/life balance. I chose to self-invest in transitioning to the aesthetic field because I love anatomy and needles! There is also a huge aspect of creativity and artistry that fulfills me so it’s the perfect combination of right- and left-brain work! I have always wanted to be my own boss and more in control of my time, and this avenue gives that to me.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been an easy road owning my own business. It’s very true that you want to give up so often with how many obstacles you encounter. However, it’s still not as stressful as it is to work in the hospital nowadays unfortunately, and I also feel like it’s a “good” stress instead. It’s a necessary part of growth, getting out of your comfort zone, and doing something new! One thing about breaking into the aesthetics world is that there is no real guidance on how to run a business. We have all the nursing skills and foundation, but learning business is a different mindset completely.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create FRZN Aesthetics to be a safe place for anyone seeking that youthful version of themselves. There are many money-driven medspas out there with a very sterile feeling environment. I wanted to set myself apart and break that mold. I offer services for any and all type of client seeking self-care and enhancement whether that’s with or without needles, and safe for all skin types! I offer facials that use ultrasound technology, Vi Peel that helps even the most stubborn hyperpigmentation, and emphasize collagen stimulation with biostimulators, amongst many other treatments. We also have financing options for patients so they don’t break the bank in one sitting! Our goal is not to freeze your face but to keep you Frozen in Time.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If I were to give advice for those starting out in this industry, it would be to build a learning plan for yourself and don’t try to bring everything on all at once because that can be so overwhelming. Learn your anatomy like the back of your hand, master one skill at a time before moving on to something else, and build a network! I would not be where I am today without my friends and colleagues I have made along the way, and it’s such a blessing to have many different perspectives and supporting women in my inner circle to collaborate with!
