Hi Andrea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Texas Taxes & Insurance was born from necessity, faith, and the belief that ownership changes everything.
Our story didn’t start with a business plan—it started with family. My mother, Dolores, was a single mom raising five children, working multiple jobs just to keep us afloat. Like many families, we learned early on that hard work alone wasn’t always enough. Stability felt out of reach, and security had to be built—not handed to us.
Years later, I became a young mother myself. I wanted to be present, to provide, and to create something better for my family. In 2012, my mother and I made a decision that would change our lives—we partnered together and began preparing taxes. What started as a seasonal opportunity quickly became a foundation for something bigger.
We realized our community needed more than tax filing. They needed guidance. Education. Someone to walk with them as they stepped into business ownership for the first time. So we expanded—intentionally.
Today, Texas Taxes & Insurance exists to help individuals turn ideas into income, side hustles into legitimate businesses, and uncertainty into confidence. We don’t just offer services—we teach, empower, and support entrepreneurs at every stage of their journey.
Because we know what it’s like to start with nothing but determination.
Our mission is simple: to be a pillar in our community by helping families build stability through entrepreneurship, education, and ownership—just like we did.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. Building a business has required sacrifices—time we’ll never get back, energy we didn’t think we had, money that felt risky, and yes… even our sanity at times. Growth hasn’t always been fast, and progress hasn’t always been visible. There were seasons where it felt like we were doing everything right and still moving slowly.
At Texas Taxes & Insurance, we chose the harder path: educating clients, operating with integrity, and doing what’s right—even when it’s not the easiest or most profitable option. In an industry where misinformation is common and shortcuts are tempting, we decided early on that we would be different. That choice hasn’t always brought instant results, but it has built something far more valuable—trust.
And I can honestly say this: it has been worth it.
Even on the hard days, quitting has never been an option. Because this work is bigger than us. We care deeply about helping others, and that purpose fuels the consistency, the long hours, and the resilience. I know that no matter where I worked, I would give my all—but choosing to build something that aligns with our values makes every sacrifice meaningful.
If you’re a business owner who feels tired or discouraged, know this: slow growth doesn’t mean failure. Doing things the right way is never wasted. If you’re still showing up, still caring, and still striving—you’re already winning.
I would choose this road again. And I’m proud to be on it.
