Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Moore, Stephanie Palmer Whitney Davies, Ashley Shovel.
Hi Anna Moore, Stephanie Palmer, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Mahjong Wives Club started as a small group of moms about 1.5 years ago, gathering at the table – creating space for connection, friendship, and time away together. We’d meet once a month, which then turned into every other week and then that turned into weekly. Our friendship blossomed and it was all because of one night where we learned to play American mahjong together.
What began as a game night became something we wanted to share and cultivate community. We’re super excited for the start of Mahjong Wives Club, where we can hope to provide an inclusive entry point to the world of mahjong for everyone.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
This idea started right at the beginning of the year and really took off in the last 5 weeks. It’s insane looking back, and see how much we’ve accomplished. What started as an idea, and a simple conversation, got then put into action by Anna and Stephanie. Working on this idea after our normal 9-5 job, we’d be up all night drafting designs for our mahjong apparel line and getting our business name and credentials set up. Then we had our first limited exclusive drop on Friday 2/3, with overwhelming support from all mahjong enthusiasts.
We ran into some bumps leading up to our first drop, with not being able to have our website platform ready for customer to peruse and order off of, instead we had to pivot last minute to a “DM to Order” type of transaction. It was a good problem to have seeing our DMs inundated with so many messages and orders. We had the bar set pretty low but it was truly exciting to see so many people be truly interested into our designs on apparel that other people actually wanted to wear out in the wild. Truly grateful.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mahjong wives club ?
Mahjong Wives Club is a modern lifestyle brand built around community, confidence, and connection at the Mahjong table.
We design stylish, approachable Mahjong-inspired apparel for women who love the game — or who are just discovering it. While most companies in this space focus on selling tiles and game sets, we focus on the culture surrounding the table: the friendships, the laughter, the shared history, and the new generation of women bringing Mahjong back into everyday life.
At its core, our brand exists to lower the barrier to entry into Mahjong. The game can feel intimidating — whether because of cost, complex rules, or long-standing social circles. We create an inclusive entry point that helps women feel like they belong before they ever sit down to play. When you wear Mahjong Wives Club, you feel confident taking your seat at the table.
What sets us apart is that we’re insiders. We play. We teach. We’re certified instructors and ambassadors within the Mahjong community, so everything we design and create comes from lived experience. We understand both the heritage of the game and the cultural resurgence happening right now among younger women. Our pieces are intentionally affordable, wearable, and fun — designed for real life.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we’ve built something that feels welcoming. We constantly hear, “I want to learn,” or “I’d love to play with you.” That’s exactly what we hoped to create — a brand that makes Mahjong feel social, modern, and accessible.
Ultimately, Mahjong Wives Club is about more than apparel. It’s about empowering women to feel confident in their place at the table — and reminding them that everyone is welcome.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
One thing that has been especially meaningful for us is that we were recently selected as Ambassadors for The Mahjong Line. Out of more than 2,000 applicants nationwide, we were chosen to represent the brand and complete instructor training led by renowned Mahjong educator Mahjong Molly.
That experience deepened our understanding of the game’s heritage and strengthened our commitment to teaching it the right way — with respect for its cultural roots while making it approachable for today’s players.
As Mahjong Wives Club grows, we’re not just focused on apparel. We’re expanding into the educational space by offering local Mahjong 101 classes and community events. Our goal is to cultivate connection here at home and introduce the game to women who may never have considered playing before.
Mahjong is having a resurgence, and we’re excited to help bring it into new spaces — neighborhoods, friend groups, young families, and communities where it hasn’t traditionally had a presence. At the end of the day, we believe Mahjong is more than a game. It’s a reason to gather, to learn something new, and to build lasting friendships.
