Inspiring Conversations with Ashantii Tyler of Inara Hair Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashantii Tyler.

Hi Ashantii, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has been a blend of resilience, creativity, and faith. I started out navigating adulthood much like many women do — working, becoming a mother, and trying to build stability while quietly carrying unhealed wounds and big dreams. I always knew I was meant to create something meaningful, but for a long time, survival took priority over vision.

Becoming a mother changed everything. It sharpened my sense of purpose and forced me to confront cycles I didn’t want to pass down. I began investing in myself — finishing my degree, earning my esthetician license, and immersing myself in wellness, scalp care, and beauty from a holistic perspective. That’s where Inara Hair Care was born: out of a desire to create products that nurture not just hair, but confidence, self-trust, and restoration.

Building my brand hasn’t been linear. I’ve done it while working full-time, parenting, and navigating major life transitions. But each step taught me discipline, discernment, and the value of alignment over rushing. Today, I’m proud to be growing a luxury, science-backed hair care brand rooted in intentionality, while also stepping into a season of softness, community, and clarity.

Where I am now isn’t the finish line — it’s a foundation. I’m building a life and a legacy that prioritizes peace, integrity, and growth, for myself and for my children. Every chapter has led me here, and I’m excited for what’s unfolding next.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been a meaningful one. Building Inara has required balancing real life with long-term vision. I’ve developed the brand while working full-time, parenting, and navigating personal transitions, which taught me discipline, patience, and the importance of pacing myself.

One of the biggest challenges has been education and access — learning formulation science deeply enough to make informed decisions, sourcing high-quality ingredients, and ensuring that everything met both safety and performance standards. There were moments where progress felt slow because I refused to rush products just to get them to market. Choosing quality over speed isn’t always easy, especially as a small, self-funded brand.

Another challenge was trusting my intuition as a founder. Early on, I had to unlearn external noise and comparison, and get comfortable standing behind my research, my process, and my vision — even when it meant taking longer or pivoting. That growth has been just as important as the physical products themselves.

Ultimately, the challenges shaped Inara into what it is today: intentional, science-backed, and built with care. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been aligned — and that’s what’s made the journey worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Inara Hair Care?
Inara is a science-backed scalp care brand rooted in the belief that healthy hair begins at the scalp. We specialize in targeted scalp serums designed to support hair growth, follicle health, hydration, and overall scalp balance. Our formulations treat the scalp the same way skincare treats the face — with clinically informed ingredients, thoughtful concentrations, and respect for the skin barrier.

What sets Inara apart is our intentional blend of science and simplicity. Each serum combines clinically studied actives — such as peptides, antioxidants, and nutrient-dense oils — with botanicals that nourish without overwhelming the scalp. We focus on results over trends, and on long-term scalp health rather than quick fixes or surface-level solutions.

Inara is also deeply hands-on. I’m involved in formulation decisions, ingredient sourcing, testing, and education, ensuring that every product meets high standards for performance, safety, and luxury. The brand is designed for people who want to understand why a product works, not just be sold on aesthetics.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the integrity behind Inara. We don’t rush products to market, we don’t over-promise, and we don’t compromise on quality. Every offering is created with intention — from the formulas themselves to the way we educate our community about scalp health and consistency.

What I want readers to know is that Inara isn’t about chasing perfect hair — it’s about building healthier hair over time. Our serums are designed to be a foundational part of a routine, supporting growth, strength, and confidence from the root. Inara represents care that is informed, elevated, and rooted in results.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe in intentional risk — the kind that’s rooted in preparation and alignment, not impulse. Building Inara independently and choosing quality over speed were major risks, but they allowed me to stay true to my vision. For me, risk is about trusting yourself enough to move forward even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.
