Inspiring Conversations with Aya Rekik of Glam with Aya

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aya Rekik.

Hi Aya, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been passionate about beauty, creativity, and helping women feel confident in their own skin. What started as doing makeup for friends and family quickly turned into something much bigger once I realized the impact it had — not just on how someone looked, but how they felt.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2023 with a degree in Business Management and Marketing, which gave me a strong foundation in branding, strategy, and entrepreneurship. While building my career, I gained valuable experience working in luxury retail, including my role as a Business Manager with Dior at Dillard’s. That experience refined my understanding of elevated service, attention to detail, and creating unforgettable client experiences.
Over time, I decided to fully lean into my own brand — Glam With Aya — specializing in bridal and luxury event makeup in the Dallas area. I fell in love with the bridal space because it’s such an intimate and meaningful moment in someone’s life. Being trusted to be part of that day is something I never take lightly.
Building a business hasn’t been without challenges. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve had to learn how to balance creativity with strategy, stay consistent even when growth feels slow, and believe in myself during uncertain seasons. But every obstacle has strengthened my resilience and clarified my vision.
Today, I’m focused on serving modern, luxury brides who value artistry, professionalism, and a personalized experience. My goal isn’t just to apply makeup — it’s to create a calm, confident energy and help every client feel like the best version of themselves.
And I’m just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, one of the biggest challenges has been building a business while still balancing other responsibilities and career transitions. There were seasons where I was working in luxury retail while simultaneously trying to grow my own brand, which required long hours, discipline, and a lot of self-motivation.
Another challenge has been navigating self-doubt. In a saturated beauty industry — especially in a competitive market like Dallas — it’s easy to compare yourself to others. I’ve had to learn to stay focused on my own growth, trust my unique style, and remember that what’s meant for me won’t miss me.
There’s also the business side that people don’t always see: marketing consistently, investing in high-quality products and education, managing bookings, handling slow seasons, and learning how to position myself in the luxury bridal space. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, and there have been moments where I had to push through uncertainty.
But every obstacle has helped me grow stronger, more strategic, and more confident. The challenges have shaped me not just as an artist, but as a businesswoman.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I believe the beauty and bridal industry will continue moving toward authenticity and individuality. We’re already seeing a shift away from overly heavy, dramatic looks and toward skin-focused, radiant glam that enhances natural features rather than masking them. Brides want to look like the best version of themselves — timeless, confident, and still recognizable in their photos years later.
I also see personalization becoming even more important. Modern brides are intentional — they care about the full experience, not just the final look. They want artists who understand their vision, culture, aesthetic, and energy. The relationship between artist and client is becoming more collaborative, which I love.
Another big shift is the role of social media and digital presence. Brides are discovering artists through Instagram, TikTok, and online features, which means branding, consistency, and storytelling matter more than ever. Makeup artists are no longer just service providers — we are brands.
I also think education and product awareness will continue to grow. Clients are more informed about skincare, ingredients, and longevity, especially in climates like Texas. This pushes artists to constantly refine their techniques and stay ahead of trends.
For me personally, I see my work continuing to evolve alongside these shifts — leaning into elevated, timeless glam while keeping the focus on confidence and experience. I believe the future of this industry belongs to artists who combine artistry with professionalism, strategy, and heart.
