Today we’d like to introduce you to Bethany Eads.
Hi Bethany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hi! My name is Bethany Eads, and I am a 22-year-old business owner and influencer in Dallas, Texas! When I’m not doing influencing or working, you can find me out of town or by the water spending time with my husband and my mom!
I started Good Earth back in 2021; I was a freshman in college and had a bright idea to sell thrifted t-shirt bundles to my friends and locals in Dallas! As time went on, I got more and more interest and decided to rebrand to sell all types of clothing, not just t-shirts. Unfortunately, I got sick and had to take a year off, which I thought would kill my store. However, I decided that I would not let that stop me and I continued to source clothes and work hard! Now we are here, years later and that small dream has now become my full-time job! I ship throughout the United States and abroad! It is amazing that a crazy idea like that is now a reality. I am so grateful for what I do and thankful for the journey!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has been a bumpy road; like all endeavors, there are always challenges. Getting sick played a huge role in a pause in growth and sales, but it was not the end of the road! Learning how to analyze and find what works and what doesn’t is the key to success. Coming back after a year, I had to relearn my customers, hone in on my goals, and see what styles were in at the time! Sales were down for a little, until I caught on and was consistent. Consistency really pays off!
As you know, we’re big fans of Good Earth Threads. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Good Earth Threads is one of my online stores that I run via Instagram! It allows people to shop easily, and also within their budget and score unique pieces. For me, I think I pride myself in finding the most fun vintage and unique pieces for people’s closets with a splash of modern goods as well! Being a thrift page, I want people to know that they are playing a huge role in working against fast fashion and reducing the pollution that it creates. Although we cannot completely eradicate clothing overconsumption, here at Good Earth, we try to significantly reduce it. I think my prices set me apart from others! Clothing in any area has competitive pricing, but quality is not something that should be sacrificed. I want to be able to provide people with clothing that is quality, unique, and in their budget! If you want to snag a good deal and love thrift and unique pieces, then we are certainly the store for you!
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I have always heard people talk about risk versus reward, and in business, this is more true than ever. For me, risk is a part of what I do. However, most of my risk is low but still unpredictable. For instance, when I source, I find clothes that I believe are what my customers want. Sometimes I stumble across a piece that I am unsure of and have to take a chance that I may buy it and it won’t sell for me!
