Inspiring Conversations with Bianca B. King of Pretty Damn Ambitious™

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca B. King.

Bianca B. King

Hi Bianca, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Marketing and consumer behavior have long been a subject of fascination for me, even during my time in the commercial real estate industry. Surprisingly, I’ve always had an affinity for the creativity of advertising, and this interest eventually led me to venture into the world of digital marketing when I established my own agency over 15 years ago; having an MBA in eCommerce marketing also helped me choose this path.

As a new entrepreneur, I recognized the importance of mentorship and coaching in shaping the growth and success of my agency, both professionally and personally. Before embarking on this entrepreneurial journey, I had already experienced the immense benefits of having multiple dedicated mentors. However, once I found myself on my own, finding a qualified mentor or coach became challenging. It often involved a guessing game of relying on my network or conducting independent research, which consumed valuable time and effort in assessing each potential coach’s suitability. Even after all the groundwork, it was still necessary to determine if the match was truly a good fit.

Realizing that the business coaching industry in the United States alone is valued at a staggering $14.5 billion and continues to grow, I became aware of the unfortunate reality that many individuals are being exploited due to their lack of time and resources to find a trustworthy coach. This realization sparked a moment of inspiration: how could I assist high-achieving women, much like myself, whether they were corporate professionals or entrepreneurs, in streamlining the process of finding a coach who has been thoroughly vetted and verified? This was when the concept of the Pretty Damn Ambitious™ collective was born. Our mission is to connect high-achieving women with vetted and verified coaches while providing a supportive community enriched with valuable curated resources and monthly educational events, all aimed at empowering women to achieve the success they desire on their own terms.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a serial entrepreneur, I’ve encountered my fair share of challenges. Back in 2008, during the onset of the Great Recession, I unknowingly established my marketing agency without fully grasping the severity and prolonged impact it would have on the global economy. Despite the turbulent times, I’m grateful that my business weathered the storm and emerged with a surprising increase in clients, revenue and continues to thrive today. Now, I am determined to empower women entrepreneurs to achieve remarkable business success too.

The next challenge was with intention; I knowingly started a business during the global pandemic in 2022. During our initial year, there were many setbacks, including having to start a significant portion of the service we provided over, as it became evident that substantial revisions were necessary to ensure an effective user experience for every woman who engaged with our services. This rework demanded months of dedicated effort and required time and financial resources to be reallocated to fix the issues. It was difficult, and the early failures were incredibly disheartening. There came a point when I questioned why I was even pursuing this second venture. However, during those moments of doubt, my “why” resurfaced and reignited my passion with renewed energy, propelling me and my team forward to persevere.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What do you think about luck?
“Good luck is what happens when opportunity meets preparation.”

To me, this well-known quote perfectly captures the essence of how luck works. It highlights the significance of being prepared and ready to embrace opportunities that come my way. It’s not merely a matter of chance; instead, it’s about being equipped with the right knowledge, skills, and experience to make the most of those moments that align with my values and desires for my personal and professional life.
