Hi Billi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My professional journey seamlessly blends my passion for design with a deep understanding of brand dynamics, honed through over a decade of orchestrating coffee shop operations. Far from mere management, my role involved training leaders, crafting training protocols, and overall, transforming each aspect of the café experience to resonate more deeply with both customers and staff.
This extensive background in creating immersive environments and systems laid the perfect foundation for a transition into design and brand strategy. As I explored my artistic pursuits on the side, it became clear that my future lay in leveraging design to forge stronger emotional connections and more meaningful interactions within any space.
One of our team’s recent notable achievements was leading the design for the Texas Blockchain Council’s annual North American Blockchain Summit. Despite the constraints of a tight timeline and lack of existing brand guidelines, my team and I developed a reusable and impactful design system that not only met but exceeded expectations, delivering ahead of schedule. This project exemplified our ability to rapidly assess and act on design needs to maximize impact, a skill I’ve applied to numerous other brands, guiding them through significant growth phases by revamping their design systems.
Looking ahead, my goal is to position Voss Alan as a leader in the Web3 space, not just in design but as a holistic innovation firm. I am committed to empowering ventures to advance further and faster by integrating thoughtful design with strategic development, pushing the boundaries of what is possible through collaborative innovation.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has been anything but smooth, yet each challenge has been a catalyst for growth and innovation.
Transitioning to a leading role within the tech industry presented a learning curve. I had to rapidly assimilate new skills and understand deep technologies, often feeling like I was leaping from one moving train to another.
One of the significant struggles was overcoming industry stereotypes, coming from a non-traditional background. Proving my worth meant not only excelling in my role but also continuously pushing myself to stay ahead of industry trends and tech pivots.
Despite these curves in the road, each swerve deepened my commitment to using design as a transformative tool. I am forever committed to being a strong female voice in a male-dominated industry.
