Hi Bria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey! I’m Bria, I’m 28 and I’m a small-town country girl from Mississippi who, once again, now resides in Texas! I’ve always been one to dream of working for myself, and I’ve actually started different craft businesses in the past, but none of them seemed to really satisfy my purpose. In 2016 I lost my goddaughter Serenity due to an illness. Then in 2019, I lost her mother, Tyra Makel, who was like a little sister to me. It was tough, and honestly, it still is. We always talked about starting a business together in honor of Serenity and planned to make a move here to Texas together. Sadly, we weren’t able to make that happen together, but I decided to pull through, keep the faith, and keep this dream of ours alive. I started my business, Serenity Makel Boutique, in honor of my heavenly angels and here we are. I definitely plan on keeping their names alive and making them proud because I know they’re watching. Omg, Tyra would’ve loved this so much! Lol!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most great things, it didn’t come easy. It’s been many hard days, many tears have been shed especially thinking of the memories, fear, and what-if’s, but I truly believe that they are here with me every day, guiding me and pushing me to keep going. I think by this being something so near and dear to me, I’ve been wanting everything to be on point, so it’s definitely taken a while and only a dozen website and logo do-overs, lol!

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be all of the days I spent with my grandmother, Irma. Rest In Peace. I miss her so much. She was such a beautiful and sweet woman and an amazing cook and baker. So soft-spoken and the best mother and wife I’ve ever seen! I don’t think anyone else could compare. She was perfect.
