Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Moore.
Hi Brian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you so much for having me. I’m happy to share a little about my story with you and your readers. Travel and mobility has played a significant role in my story and has been a major contributor to my perspective on life. I spent much of my childhood in Germany and several other locations thanks to my father’s 20 years of military service. This gave me an early appreciation for different cultures, histories and experiences. That appreciation continued into adulthood and I remain an avid traveler who deeply values the diversity our world has to offer. Two of my favorite destinations so far are Greece and Fiji. Over the years I have lived in Louisiana, Georgia, Germany, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York City, Ohio and DFW (twice!). I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and I am a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Photography has always felt like the perfect intersection of two things I’ve loved for as long as I can remember: creativity and technology. I’ve always been drawn to outlets for creative expression, and equally fascinated by the tools that make it possible. Photography blends those passions for me. From capturing a special moment behind the camera to refining that image during the editing process. Every step allows me to create something I find to be both meaningful and fulfilling. I love experimenting with new cameras and lenses, and I even build and upgrade the PCs that power my editing workflow.
Photography has also become deeply connected to my personal life as a husband and father. My wife and I have been married for eleven years, and we have two young sons who make each day a joy. Having the ability to capture so many precious moments of our life together is something I’m incredibly grateful for.
During the day, I work as a Vice President at a large financial institution, but my creativity comes alive after business hours when I’m reunited with my camera once again. What started as a personal passion gradually grew into something I wanted to share with others, which ultimately led to the creation of There is Moore Photography. Through my work as a family and portrait photographer in the Dallas-Forth Worth area, I’ve had the privilege of capturing individuals, couples, families, and many of the milestones that matter most to them. Being trusted with those moments has added immeasurable meaning to my life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most creative and professional pursuits, my photography business journey hasn’t always been a completely smooth road, but it has been an incredibly rewarding one. One of the greatest challenges in photography is building brand recognition and credibility in the communities you serve. That kind of reputational development rarely happens quickly. It emerges gradually as people experience your work and share it with others.
Photography is also a highly competitive field, with many talented photographers offering their own style and perspective. Because of this, I’m always thinking about how to differentiate myself, whether that’s through the quality of my images, the experience I provide during a session, or the attention to detail I dedicate during my editing process.
Another challenge is balancing photography with my career in finance and my responsibilities as a husband and father. It requires discipline, intentionality and careful time management, but it’s a challenge I genuinely enjoy because photography is something I am sincerely passionate about. Each step along the way has helped me develop, both creatively and professionally. I’m grateful for the progress I’ve made so far and I’m optimistic about the future.
We’ve been impressed with There is Moore Photography, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, There is Moore Photography, focuses on portrait photography for families, couples, and individuals throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, including Flower Mound and the surrounding communities. My priority is simple; provide an elevated experience and deliver images that exude quality without compromise. One thing that sets my work apart is the level of detail and care I put into both the creative and technical aspects of photography. I’m deeply invested in every step of the process, which helps me consistently deliver high-quality images for my clients. Two of my favorite shooting locations are the Mandalay Canal Walk at Las Colinas and the Riverwalk in Flower Mound, both of which offer beautiful scenery and unique character for portrait sessions.
As a husband and father, I also bring a personal perspective to my family photography sessions. I understand how quickly life moves and how important it is to preserve special moments along the way. Being trusted to capture memories that families will cherish for years is something I never take lightly.
I’m very proud to have built a brand that authentically reflects who I am and showcases one of my life’s greatest passions. People can view my portfolio and learn more about my work at www.thereismoorephotography.com
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I’ve always liked the idea that luck happens when preparation meets opportunity.
Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours refining my craft. I’ve committed to acquiring professional-grade gear, mastering my camera settings, studying composition techniques, becoming proficient with off camera flash, creatively using depth of field, and developing a thoughtful editing workflow.
All of that preparation matters because photography often only gives you a brief moment to capture something special. When opportunities began to appear for me and the first people in my community trusted me to photograph their treasured moments, I was ready. I focused on delivering my very best work for those early clients, and gradually the word began to spread. In that sense, I do think luck has played a role in my success, but it’s the kind of luck that grew out of patience, preparation and persistence.
I’m also incredibly lucky in another way. I have a loving family that wholeheartedly supports what I do. Their encouragement means a great deal to me and continues to motivate me as I grow my business and pursue something I truly care about. You can’t get much luckier than that.
