Hi Candace, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was a younger girl growing up, I always wanted to behave in a salon that catered to every aspect of Beauty. I went through some ups and downs as a young lady trying to make it in the beauty industry. I store selling clothes out of my car book in different hair appointments. Just to get my feet wet then the pandemic happened I didn’t think I would ever get my shop but I keep praying and luckily, pieces of candy became a storefront I was no longer selling clothes out of my car what doing hair out of my house and now I can Ferley say that all of my hard work paid off in my dreams came true because I’m the owner of pieces of candy Boutique.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I was selling clothes out of my trunk, it was easy because I was on the move, but once I got my storefront things to change because now I’m sitting steel and I’m wanting people to come to me there were plenty of days that I said and no one even knocked on the door knew why I was so I started trying to find different ways and strategies to market my business to get more foot traffic to my door.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is Candace. The name of my business is Pieces of Candy Boutique. The reason I went with that name is because there are so many different pieces of my life I love to do hair, I love to do eyelashes, I love fashion, I love everything in the beauty world so inside of pieces of candy is a salon boutique that offers makeup services hair services clothing shoes accessories. I’m a one-stop-shop that’s what set me apart from so many other shops because there are so many different pieces that I offer, I also have a piece of candy merch line all proceeds goes to my nonprofit Amazing Grace Youth to help feed kids in my area I also offer a one on one business training class that teaches you how to open your business from beginning to end which includes a vendors list.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I’m looking forward to Pieces of Candy Boutique to expand into a second location. And just keep bringing a fire to the beauty industry and dropping gems in the business world.
