Hi Chris & Amy , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
We are absolutely honored to provide comprehensive, premier Estate Sale services to families in the community going through difficult and transitional circumstances while assisting the environment by selling pre-loved items!

Year after year, we have enjoyed attending Estate Sales as a hobby. Chris is a Baseball Card Expert who has been collecting, buying, and selling since childhood. One weekend, we stumbled upon a family-run Estate Sale and purchased a few items, including a 1970 Nolan Ryan Topps Baseball Card and a first edition of “Lord of the Flies.” When we realized the value of our purchases and the low price we paid, we returned to the Sale and informed the family. They were so impressed with our knowledge and honesty that they hired us on the spot. And that’s how our journey began. Initially, Amy, a former Realtor | Marketing Manager, Project Manager | Executive Assistant, left the corporate world and ran Estate Sales herself, with Chris assisting whenever he could. Later, Chris joined her, and together they formed SAGE PATINA Estate Sales. Two are indeed better than one! As we approach 13 years of conducting Estate Sales, we are both proud and honored to have assisted so many families. Many of our clients have even joined our team, helping others in need.

Our business model distinguishes itself from others. We conduct monthly rather than weekly estate sales, making each of our client’s sales our primary focus. Diligent and thorough preparation are crucial for a well-executed estate sale. Our shoppers (and clients) eagerly await these highly anticipated monthly events enjoying our creative marketing and advertising as the sale date approaches. Upon arrival, they enjoy a positive, pristine, boutique-like shopping experience with meticulous organization, cleanliness, fair pricing, safety measures in place throughout the home, accountability using Square POS, daily sales reports for our clients, and receipts for shoppers. Our comprehensive business model repeatedly delivers a joyful shopping experience yielding maximum profits while honoring and celebrating each of our clients homes with compassion and exceptional care. We ease the stress and burden before them providing, “A Harmonious Process From Beginning to End!”

Additionally, this has been a year of resilience filled with obstacles and challenges. Chris had life-saving surgery February 2nd, Sepsis | Acute Perforated Sigmoid Diverticulitis with a Colostomy Bag. It was absolutely awful and terrifying. His surgeon prepared Amy for the possibility that he may not survive. Thankfully, he did! Our lives changed overnight. It was a very challenging seven months working with a Colostomy Bag in an Estate Sale environment disappointingly opposite of what we were used to in Texas. Two surgeries later, he had a Colostomy Reversal and is doing great. Truly inspirational! Despite these challenges, we’re elated to share that SAGE PATINA Estate Sales is flourishing in Texas again, alleviating stress and providing relief to families across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“One may encounter numerous setbacks, but it is crucial to never succumb to defeat.” – Maya Angelou

2024 presented us with an unprecedented series of obstacles and challenges ultimately with resilience. Our decision to relocate to Florida to be closer to our daughter was well-intentioned, but we could never have anticipated the life-saving surgery that Chris would require, followed by the subsequent medical challenges associated with his ongoing care, healing, and conducting sales throughout his temporary disability. Additionally, we encountered significant disparities in the estate sale industry in Florida compared to Texas, resulting in reduced extremely disappointing buyer turnout and financial strain.

Despite these trying circumstances, we persevered and remained resilient. Chris is making remarkable progress in his recovery since his colostomy reversal on September 5th. We have returned to Texas, where our business flourishes. We are absolutely delighted to be back home, proudly serving families throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area again, as we have since 2019.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are experts in handling Large Estate Liquidations. We meticulously sort, organize, clean, research, and price items, transforming homes into beautiful boutique-like shopping experiences. We have conducted sales of all sizes, from humble and small to enormous lavish mansions. We do it all!

By offering comprehensive and unparalleled services, focusing on one sale a month, we are able to exceed expectations. From the initial call to creative marketing and advertising, to the completion of the sale and pay out, our clients experience clear and concise communication and a steadfast commitment to deliver above and beyond everything promised. We ensure a harmonious process from beginning to end.

Our Work-Life Balance Series was interrupted by Chris’s health issues this year. However, it was so loved and appreciated by our followers that we’re elated to announce that with his continued healing, we hope to begin again the summer of 2025.

Lastly, we humbly share that we’ve received awards, have been showcased by estatesales.net, and collaborate with incredible Movie Set Decorators. Many of our client’s have been delighted that their family’s cherished items are celebrated in the background of several movies and programs.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the upcoming 5 – 10 years, we envision the estate sales industry undergoing significant changes and improvements. We sincerely hope that regulations will be implemented to eliminate unscrupulous companies that tarnish the industry’s reputation. We’re fairly certain there will be a continued surge in individuals establishing Estate Sale companies, often mistakenly believing that it’s effortless. Properly conducting estate sales requires integrity, dedication, meticulous preparation, effective project management, clear, concise communication, thorough research, exceptional teamwork and interpersonal skills. After all, no one truly enjoys attending estate sales that are disorganized, dirty and/or managed by unkind, boisterous individuals lacking professionalism.

The good news is that there are “Hidden Gems” in the DFW area and we are elated to be recognized as one of them! Each Sale is a direct representation of the family and the company. It’s an honor to work both for and with them. We hope all companies will join us improving the Estate Sale Industry; elevating one another.

Pricing:

  • For our clients, our service fee is all-inclusive. The more our clients earn, the more we earn while maintaining reasonable pricing for our shoppers. All-inclusive means that advertising, labor, permit fees, etc., are covered by our portion. There are no additional charges. Many companies unfairly add these fees and more, such as a minimum of $2,000 to “cover their costs.” What incentive do they have to work diligently for the client? It’s unacceptable.
  • For our shoppers, we offer reasonable and fair pricing. Our resellers can profit from purchases from the first day. Furthermore, as the sale progresses, the savings increase, with Day 2 offering a 25% discount and Day 3 offering a 50% discount. We offer excellent pricing across the board throughout every sale!
