Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Sargent.
Hi Christian, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Vicky Cakes is a 40+ year family recipe created by my mother, Vicky. She created it out of necessity as a single mother of four and it has been in our family ever since then. My husband tried my mother’s pancakes for the first time in 2013 and immediately fell in love. He came up with the name and idea for Vicky Cakes to be a packaged product that could be sold to families all around the world.
In 2019 I asked my mother for her blessing to turn her recipe into a business, she approved and Vicky Cakes launched on Mother’s Day of 2019 as a gift and in honor of my mother.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road of entrepreneurship hasn’t been easy but the lessons have been invaluable. We have learned how to operate as a manufacturer, we have learned to navigate proper licensing and certification loopholes, and have also had to figure out the ultimate challenge of funding for small minority-owned businesses. We’re truly blessed and fortunate to still be standing and growing even in the midst of the challenges.
As you know, we’re big fans of Vicky Cakes Pancake Mix. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am the CEO and co-founder of America’s best pancakes! Our pancake and waffle mixes are the lightest and fluffiest pancakes you’ll ever taste and gives the feeling of eating at grandma’s table!
Our mixes are especially different because they are 100% dairy and egg-free making them vegan friendly, unlike anything else on the market. We take pride in what’s not in our products!
The ultimate goal and desire of Vicky Cakes as a brand is to bring families back to the table to enjoy family time, create great memories and enjoy good for together just as my siblings and I did with my mother’s pancakes at the center of it all!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was always that assertive kid who knew what she wanted and went for it. I planned my own birthday parties; I had my own girls club on the playground and I even ran for and won president of student counsel in high school. I’m an extrovert and a doer of the things I love and believe in and Vicky Cakes is my greatest accomplishment!
