Today we’d like to introduce you to Christy Freddo.
Hi Christy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2013, I was coming out of a long career in corporate America where I had spent years working in international marketing and traveling extensively. I was also a single mom, and I knew I wanted my next chapter to look very different. I wanted to own my own business and have the flexibility to be there for my daughter and for the moments that mattered most.
As I started exploring different business opportunities, I came across Facelogic. Before making any decisions, I visited as a secret shopper, and I immediately fell in love with the concept. I loved the membership model and the idea that high-quality, professional facials could be affordable enough to become part of someone’s regular routine rather than something they only did once or twice a year. Taking care of yourself shouldn’t just be a splurge.
I also really connected with the idea of giving women a place to consistently take care of themselves. A facial can obviously be about improving your skin, but it’s also an hour to slow down, be taken care of, and do something that makes you feel good about yourself. I’ve always believed that when we feel good about how we look, it can affect how we feel and how we show up in the rest of our lives.
So when the opportunity came along to purchase Facelogic Dallas, it felt like the right fit for both the kind of business I wanted to own and the kind of life I wanted to create.
I’ve now owned Facelogic Dallas for more than 13 years, and what I love most is that we’ve become part of our clients’ lives. We have clients who have been coming to us since the beginning, and I’ve had the privilege of building a wonderful team and watching the business continue to grow and evolve.
Owning a small business definitely hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve learned more than I ever could have imagined along the way. But I still believe just as strongly in what attracted me to Facelogic in the beginning: self-care shouldn’t have to be an occasional luxury. It can be something we make space for regularly, both to take care of our skin and to feel our best.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not always been a smooth road. Like so many small businesses, COVID was probably the biggest challenge we had ever faced. We were completely shut down by the state for two months, and at the time, no one knew what was going to happen or how long it would last. It was incredibly scary for me as a business owner, but also for our employees whose livelihoods depended on the spa.
We eventually reopened and worked incredibly hard to rebuild the business. Just when we felt like we had finally gotten back on solid ground, we faced another major challenge. The City of University Park began a construction project that essentially took over our parking lot and the surrounding parking, for about a year. For a business that depends on clients being able to easily get in and out, it had a huge impact. We lost a significant number of clients during that time, and we’re still rebuilding from it today.
Those experiences have definitely taught me how resilient a small business has to be. There are so many things you simply can’t control, so you have to focus on what you can control. For us, that’s the experience we give every person who walks through our doors.
I’m incredibly proud of how hard our team works to create an environment where clients feel welcomed, cared for, and genuinely want to come back. At the end of the day, that’s what makes all the difference. You can have a beautiful spa and offer great services, but it’s the people and the way they make someone feel that keep clients coming back.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Facelogic Dallas ?
What really sets Facelogic Dallas apart is that we bridge the gap between a traditional day spa and more results-driven skincare. We offer relaxing, customized facials, but we also have a medical director and are able to offer more advanced services such as microneedling and dermaplaning, along with microdermabrasion, chemical peels and other treatments designed to create visible results.
From the beginning, I’ve believed that taking care of your skin shouldn’t be something only a small group of people can afford. Great skincare works best when you can be consistent with it, which is why our membership model is such an important part of what we do. It allows our clients to make professional skincare and self-care part of their regular routine without the price point you often associate with high-end spas or more advanced treatments.
We also don’t believe affordable should mean compromising on quality. We use professional skincare from our own in-house line as well as IMAGE Skincare and Eminence Organic Skin Care, and I’m incredibly proud of the team of aestheticians we’ve built. They’re knowledgeable, experienced and, most importantly, they genuinely care about their clients and their results.
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve been able to create a place, as an independently owned Spa and not a franchise, where someone can come in for an hour, relax and be taken care of, while also doing something meaningful for the health and appearance of their skin. We want people to leave looking better, feeling better and knowing they don’t have to spend a fortune to take great care of themselves.
Also, Facelogic Dallas is a woman-owned, veteran co-owned independent small business.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of people contribute to my success along the way. Before owning Facelogic, I spent many years in corporate America working in international marketing and helping oversee subsidiary markets. I had some incredible mentors during that chapter of my career who taught me a tremendous amount about leadership, strategy and how to run a successful business. I didn’t realize at the time how much of what I was learning would eventually help me as a small business owner, but I’ve drawn on those experiences again and again.
My husband has also been an incredible sounding board. We each own our own businesses, so we understand the unique challenges that come with entrepreneurship. We bounce ideas off each other constantly, and I really value having someone I trust who can look at a situation objectively and help me think through the bigger strategic decisions.
And I have to give a tremendous amount of credit to my team. In a service business, the people are the business in so many ways. Our aestheticians and front desk team are the ones creating the experience our clients have every day, building relationships with them and giving them a reason to keep coming back. Facelogic would not be what it is today without the many talented people who have been part of it over the years.
