Hi David, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a second-career attorney. I started my professional career as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) at a public accounting firm. After a couple of years, I moved into consulting. Then, the pandemic happened. During that period, I had a lot of time to think about where I was in life and where I wanted to go. Becoming an attorney had always been the original goal, but I took a winding path because I studied accounting in college and decided to become a CPA, which had an experience requirement. That is how I ended up in public accounting.
So during the pandemic, I decided to take the LSAT to see how I would do. I ended up doing well and getting into several law schools, including one that allowed me to work full-time while attending school. As I began law school, I started thinking about what I wanted to do after. In that process, I came across stories of attorneys that started their law firms right out of law school. Before then, that thought had not crossed my mind, but the thought would not leave me from that moment forward. So I started talking with other attorneys and asking them whether I was crazy to think I could start a law firm right out of law school. Through numerous conversations, I started to believe that it was possible.
So after law school and passing the bar, I took the leap in January 2025 and hung my own shingle and GreaterWorks Legal, PLLC was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road. One of the struggles has been not having the comfort of a paycheck that is automatically deposited into your account every two weeks. The other struggle has been balancing my time spent doing client work versus running the business and handling all of the administrative tasks that come with it.

Systems are the way to be efficient and more productive. They take time to implement, but once they are implemented, you will be so grateful you took the time and put the work in.
