Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawone Marshall.
Hi Dawone, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Originally, I am from Southern California. While living there, I was inspired by a local company selling Philadelphia-style water ice. It was delicious and refreshing, and my family made sure to visit their truck every week for a cup. After moving to Texas in 2021, I had the longing for some of the delicious frozen dessert I loved so much from LA. So, I decided to start my own business offering Philadelphia-style water ice with my own spin on it.
I purchased a transit van in 2022 and built it out from the ground up, by hand, with my own blood, sweat and tears.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been quite a challenge in this first year, balancing work, business and family. Starting a new business demands alot of time. And I am also learning so much along the way. Thankfully, my wife and family are very understanding and very supportive. My little one even helps me out on the truck!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Iced Out?
We serve hand-made Philadelphia-style water ice. Instead of operating from a traditional food truck, we work from an ice cream truck-style van. While we love serving from our truck at events, we also work via table setup and we offer catering.
We love working with local schools and community organizations with our fundraisers. And we’ve been known to put our own spin on events by creating customized flavor combinations and fun names to match event themes, school colors and more!
I’m very proud of being able to bring my creativity to Iced Out. There are many Italian ice vendors around, but you will always know Iced Out by our signature polar bear, Icey Bear, with his dripped out bling.
We post our locations and events regularly on social media, as well as our booking pages. Visit us at linktr.ee/icedoutcups to connect.
What does success mean to you?
Success for me is being consistent, and reaching a level of growth within my business that allows me and my family to live comfortably. I’m not looking to take over the world with Iced Out. But providing a comfortable and enjoyable life for my family and myself is my main goal.
