Thank you, this means a lot to me. My story of Vassé Rendezvous really begins with quiet butterflies. Originally I bought this 10 acre piece of property for my two children, especially for my daughter, Talyia, so she could have some normalcy. We all spent countless hours horseback riding, four wheeling, riding the tractor, laughing alongside her older brother, evenings sitting by the fire as the seasons changed, really just enjoying the freedom and playfulness of being outdoors. It wasn’t a business back then. It was a place for the family, a place where I’d always see butterflies, and still do to this day.
After the passing of my baby girl, Talyia, I stepped away from the property for a while. Coming back to the space was hard, because it held so many beautiful memories. Then one day, when I finally had the strength to go back, butterflies surrounded me, unexpectedly. I felt like she was saying to me, “Mommie, you know how much I enjoyed our place, I want you to open it up so others can enjoy it too.” That experience stayed with me, and it’s a glimpse into who I am. I’m a dedicated mother, and I’ve always loved music, art, fashion, interior design, and travel, so I notice little details that make you pause. The name of the company itself is personal. Vassé comes from Talyia’s middle name, which was actually derived from my own middle name. Rendezvous means two or more people coming together at an agreed time and place.
My love, loss, and healing became the desire to create a legacy for my family, especially my daughter, one that celebrates life while we’re still here to experience it. I started seeing the property differently. It was still full of memories for my family, but I could also picture other people making memories there too. Families celebrating. Couples getting married. Artists performing. Teams bonding and coworkers unwinding. I realized that if I was really going to do this, I had a lot to figure out. As the vision became much clearer I took on every role, founder, designer, problem solver, all of it. My son, who’s a modular designer and also the brother who spent all those childhood years on the property with his little sister, contributed too. He helped design the layout and developed our signature container lounge with presidential glass doors and rooftop deck. Having his creative footprint all over this haven is incredibly special. In so many ways, this property carries both of them, her spirit, and the way he always looked out for her.
Today Vassé Rendezvous is a private, award-winning, 10 acre outdoor event and entertainment venue in Fort Worth, with mature oak trees, manicured grounds, and views of Lake Arlington. In 2025 we placed third in the Richard L. Knight Rotary Minority Business Awards, and that recognition caught me by surprise. That told me Vassé Rendezvous wasn’t just meaningful to me. It was beginning to resonate beyond me. It’s still, at its heart, my way of turning something painful into something that blooms.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, and honestly I don’t think any business journey is smooth. There were a lot of days I’d be out on the property with concept drawings in my hand, sure of the vision, and something unexpected would be waiting for me before I could even take the next step.
One of my biggest challenges has been building a business that doesn’t fit neatly into a familiar category. Vassé Rendezvous isn’t a traditional ballroom or event hall. It’s an authentically outdoor venue for sophisticated gatherings and entertainment, and because the concept is different, I’ve often had to help people understand what’s even possible here before they can picture it themselves. The zoning process was a significant part of that journey. It required patience, persistence, and the ability to keep advocating for the vision through setbacks and uncertainty. Vassé Rendezvous didn’t fit into any category the city already had. The closest options for this kind of property use were banquet halls and other indoor venues, or something on the scale of a theme park. Nothing in between. So before zoning could move forward, I had to apply for a Planned Development, a PD. It took over six months, and when zoning was finally approved, that was a huge turning point. But approval didn’t suddenly make the road easy.
It just opened the door to thoughtfully developing the property. It also meant taking on a whole new level of responsibility. Running an outdoor venue means thinking about infrastructure, lighting, power, restrooms, vendor access, parking, weather, maintenance, and safety. All those details have to work while protecting the natural beauty that makes the property special in the first place.
Then there’s the financial reality of building something this personal and expansive. I’ve invested in this deeply, not just financially, but emotionally and creatively, one decision at a time. I’ve had to learn when to move forward, when to wait, and when not to compromise, even with outside opinions and pressure suggesting quicker or less expensive options. I’ve also had to get really clear about what Vassé Rendezvous stands for. In the beginning it’s tempting to say yes to everything. Over time I’ve learned that growth actually requires clarity. Clarity about the atmosphere I want to create, the clients I want to serve, the standards I want to hold onto, and the reputation I want to build.
The emotional side of this has been just as real, and some days the responsibility has been the heavier one. The property holds memories of my daughter, so building this has meant carrying grief and purpose at the same time. But then there are days I look around and realize something born out of loss is now a place where people are coming together, healing in nature, and shaping their own stories. The road has taught me that resilience isn’t loud, it’s showing up again the next morning, making the next phone call, answering the next inquiry, and continuing to believe in something before everyone else can see what I see.
Vassé Rendezvous is still evolving, but every challenge has made me more discerning about how I build and more intentional about protecting the integrity of my vision. Creating something worthwhile is rarely a straight road. The obstacles have strengthened both me and Vassé Rendezvous.

For starters, Vassé Rendezvous is a private, 10 acre outdoor event and entertainment venue just fifteen minutes south of downtown Fort Worth, created for people who genuinely want the privacy, freedom, atmosphere, and beauty of being outdoors. We host corporate gatherings and retreats, brand activations, private celebrations, weddings, cultural gatherings, and live entertainment, accommodating events from 25 to over 500 guests.
What sets us apart is the way nature and sophistication come together. Guests are not confined to one room or one fixed floorplan. An event can move across different areas of the property and change in energy as it unfolds, while still feeling connected. Mature oak trees, multiple wood-burning firepit zones, handpicked music, warm bistro lighting, the geodesic domes, the open-air entertainment court, the modern container lounge with its rooftop deck. And then, of course, there are the changing skies. We’re authentically outdoors, but the aesthetic isn’t rustic or western. It’s private, serene, intentional. I love that the property is transformable. I actually think of it as being in the transformation business. A corporate retreat can feel focused and relaxed. A brand activation can be visual and immersive. A wedding can feel intimate. The setting doesn’t dictate one particular look or one event type. It gives clients room to breathe, room to connect, and room to create something that reflects their purpose and personality.
I’m not just providing outdoor space. I’ve thought hard about how people move through the space, where they gather, how the energy shifts, and how comfort, music, lighting, and the atmosphere all work together. We offer an open vendor policy, giving clients the flexibility to bring in their preferred licensed and insured vendors and suppliers, such as caterers, designers, and entertainment. That allows each event to feel personal rather than forcing every occasion into the same formula.
What I’m most proud of, brand wise, is that Vassé Rendezvous has its own identity. We were also featured on NBC 5’s Something Good, which was confirmation that what started as something personal was reaching people far beyond the property itself. It’s not an indoor venue with a patio attached and called outdoor. It was never intended to imitate indoor spaces, nor is it a park, a ballroom, a hotel, a restaurant, or a concert facility trying to recreate a traditional setup. It was designed to be outdoors from day one. I’ve never thought of it as just selling event space. What we’re really creating is a feeling. Atmosphere, escape, possibility. More than anything, I want people to understand this is a setting that gives them the freedom to gather and celebrate in their own way.
Any big plans?
The future is really about expanding the vision while protecting the feeling that makes this place special in the first place. I’m looking forward to developing signature events and building stronger relationships with corporate planners, event designers, entertainment professionals, specialty vendors and private hosts who are looking for a genuinely outdoor venue, not just another backdrop. At the same time, I want to keep improving the infrastructure that helps an outdoor event feel seamless and comfortable. That includes wayfinding, ambience, production support, guest comfort, and being better prepared when weather doesn’t cooperate.
I also want to grow Vassé Rendezvous into more of its own entertainment and collaborations, eventually hosting those signature events exclusively. I’ve always believed sophisticated events don’t need to be celebrated within four walls, and everything we’ve built here, so far, reflects that.
Long term, I’d love to see Vassé Rendezvous become one of Fort Worth’s landmark destinations. A place where companies gather with purpose, brands leave something people remember, and people celebrate important moments in a nature rich setting. There’s still so much I want to build, and honestly, that’s part of what excites me. Every event gives me another chance to bring more of my vision to life. I’m not interested in rushing the process or making Vassé Rendezvous into something it’s not. I want to keep building it thoughtfully and let each step take us closer to what I know this place can become.
