Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Stafford.
Hi Dominic, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My girlfriend and I had a premiere son, who was born at 27 weeks. He was 1lb 14 oz, due to him being born so early we had complications on the way with his health. During our stay at Cooks Children’s Hospital Fort Worth, we noticed that parents that were in our same situation would get excited when they could put clothes on their baby. I thought about how I do like to dress my other children, and we could help families just like us once we get out of the hospital. After that everything else was history. Luxurious kids consignment was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The most important lesson I’m still learning is how to juggle my full-time job, my business (LKC), And also a father eight. Consistency is the key to having your own business, it is harder than I thought it would be.
We’ve been impressed with Luxurious kids consignment, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Luxurious Kids Consignment is a boutique for children, ages preemie up to 10 years old. We buy, sell and consign new and gently used clothing, shoes and accessories. When purchasing with Luxurious Kids Consignment, proceeds help low-income families in our community in the form of community events, STEM-related programs, and performing arts projects.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The lessons I have learned, and I’m still learning is that you have to be your number one cheerleader, you have to be the one that motivates yourself. You will have a lot of low peaks you have to learn how to continue to press through the little peaks to see the benefits in the long run. I am very grateful for my support system that I have who encourages me to continue to press on you. I have also learned through this journey that is very similar to a family it takes a tribe to make this business work, having a wonderful support system, having faithful customers, will make your life and your business much easier to manage.
