My work is rooted in lived experience, faith, and calling. I witnessed the suicide of my father and later survived domestic violence—experiences that awakened my understanding of grief, trauma, and the sacred resilience of the human spirit.
These moments did not define me, but they clarified my purpose. I was called to create spaces where healing is whole, compassionate, and accessible.
Through counseling, midwifery, and holistic care, I now serve individuals and families at life’s most vulnerable and transformative moments. Tree of Life Birth Counseling & Wellness Center was born from this calling—a sanctuary where care honors the body, mind, spirit, and ancestral wisdom.
I believe healing is sacred, and when people are truly seen and supported, transformation unfolds.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road has not been smooth. I was misled by Simple Customs, a Black-owned construction company, which resulted in significant financial loss and tested my faith.
Yet I remained steadfast and unmovable. In divine timing, JJ Construction stepped in and completed a project no other builder would touch. That experience affirmed for me that even when man fails, provision does not—what is meant to be built will still rise.

Tree of Life Birth Counseling & Wellness Center is a sacred, integrative healing space founded by Dr. Cheryl Edinbyrd, whose life’s work bridges clinical care, ancestral wisdom, and spiritual grounding. I serve as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Licensed Midwife, Licensed Esthetician, ordained minister, notary, and life coach—allowing care to be offered across mind, body, and spirit.
Our services include mental and behavioral health counseling, substance use support, midwifery and perinatal care, esthetics, life coaching, yoga and stretching, cold therapy, yoni steaming, hydrotherapy, and holistic wellness education. Each offering is rooted in trauma-informed practice, dignity, and restoration.
What sets Tree of Life apart is not just what we offer, but how we offer it. This is a sanctuary where healing is honored as sacred work, access is prioritized, and care is never fragmented. We meet people at the intersection of faith, lived experience, and clinical excellence.

I don’t believe in luck—good or bad. I believe in divine alignment. Every opportunity, challenge, delay, and breakthrough has unfolded with purpose, shaping both my life and the way I lead Tree of Life Birth Counseling & Wellness Center.
What others may call luck, I recognize as alignment, protection, and preparation. This belief guides how I live and how I run my business—trusting that what is meant for this work will come together in the right time and order.
