Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Humberto Figueroa Pérez of Caribbean Chiropractor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Humberto Figueroa Pérez.

Hi Dr. Humberto, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where I grew up surrounded by family, culture, and a strong sense of community—but holistic health wasn’t something people talked much about. I always knew I wanted to help people, and I was drawn to the idea of working with the body in a hands-on, meaningful way. That curiosity eventually led me to chiropractic school in Texas, where I was introduced to a wide range of techniques.

But it wasn’t until I discovered Directional Non-Force Technique (D.N.F.T.®) that everything clicked. D.N.F.T. is unlike anything I’d seen before—there’s no cracking, popping, or guesswork. It’s a precise, gentle method that works directly with the body’s innate signals to correct imbalances at the root. I was fortunate to be mentored by one of the most experienced D.N.F.T. doctors, Dr. Hank Ferrell, who taught me not just the technique, but the deep level of care and analysis it requires.

After completing my training, I made it my mission to offer this unique style of chiropractic to patients who were looking for something different—especially those who felt overlooked or frustrated by conventional care.

Today, I practice in Texas, where I care for patients of all ages using a holistic, low-force approach that’s both gentle and deeply effective. I combine D.N.F.T. chiropractic care with personalized supplement testing, clinical-grade laser therapy, and red light therapy—offering a full-spectrum wellness experience rooted in respect, precision, and lasting results. I also continue to serve patients back home in Puerto Rico, where my heart and heritage are deeply connected, and where many people are still looking for natural solutions they can trust.

For me, this work is more than a career—it’s a calling. And it’s been a gift to serve both of my communities with a technique that honors the body’s intelligence and restores true, lasting health.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all—it’s been anything but smooth. But every challenge has shaped who I am and how I care for my patients.

Moving from Puerto Rico to Texas to pursue my chiropractic degree was a big leap, especially leaving behind family, culture, and the comfort of home. I was navigating a new environment, a new language, and a healthcare system that often looks at symptoms instead of root causes. That contrast only deepened my commitment to learning techniques that respected the body’s natural wisdom—like D.N.F.T.®.

One of the biggest struggles came after finishing school. I didn’t take the typical route of joining a high-volume practice where patients are seen like numbers. I knew I wanted to do things differently—more intentionally, more personally. But choosing that path meant slower growth, financial uncertainty, and a lot of people not understanding what I do at first. I had to educate every patient from the ground up. D.N.F.T.® isn’t flashy. It’s not loud. But the results speak for themselves.

There were seasons where I questioned if this approach would work—if enough people would find value in gentle, root-cause care. But I held onto my faith and purpose. And over time, word of mouth began to grow. Patients started sending their families. People who had tried everything else began to feel hope again.

So no, it hasn’t been smooth. But I’m grateful for that. The road taught me patience, trust, and how to stay grounded in my mission—even when it’s not the easy way.

We’ve been impressed with Caribbean Chiropractor, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Caribbean Chiropractor is more than a name—it’s a reflection of my roots, my approach to healing, and the community I serve. It’s also a reminder that true wellness goes beyond the adjustment. While many people think of chiropractic care as just a quick crack or pop, what I offer is something deeper: a full-spectrum approach that addresses the root causes of imbalance—physically, chemically, and emotionally.

I specialize in D.N.F.T.® (Directional Non-Force Technique), which is a gentle, no-cracking chiropractic method that’s incredibly precise and highly effective. Instead of relying on force or loud pops, I use the body’s own reflex system to identify and correct imbalances at the root—helping the nervous system reset so the body can heal naturally.

What I do looks very different from traditional chiropractic. There’s no rushing, no guesswork, and no “one-size-fits-all” plan. Each patient receives a tailored experience based on what their body is communicating. That’s what we’re known for—personalized, root-cause care that feels intentional and restorative.

Alongside D.N.F.T.®, I incorporate:

– Supplement testing to support internal healing
– Homeopathic remedies to support healing
– Theralase laser therapy for deep tissue and nerve repair
– Red light therapy to reduce inflammation, support energy, and enhance results after adjustments

What I’m most proud of is how our brand has stayed true to our values. We don’t chase trends—we focus on the fundamentals of healing and provide care that empowers people to truly understand their bodies. For many of our patients, this is the first time they’ve experienced a chiropractor who listens deeply, adjusts gently, and connects the dots in a way that makes sense.

Whether someone is looking for relief from chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or seeking better long-term wellness, we offer a calm and grounded space to do that work—naturally, respectfully, and with results that last.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that healing doesn’t follow a straight line— and neither does the path to building something meaningful.

When I first started this journey, I thought if I just worked hard, the results would follow right away. But over time, I’ve learned that growth—both in business and in health—is about consistency, patience, and trust. Trust in the body’s innate ability to heal. Trust in the process. And trust in the purpose behind what I do, even when the road gets challenging.

I’ve also learned that gentleness is not weakness. In a world that moves fast and expects instant fixes, taking a slower, more intentional approach can feel countercultural. But that’s exactly what makes this work powerful. Whether I’m adjusting someone using D.N.F.T.®, guiding them through supplement protocols, or just listening to what their body is saying—it’s the small, precise actions that often lead to the biggest changes.

Most of all, I’ve learned that people don’t just want to feel better—they want to feel seen, heard, and understood. That’s what I aim to offer in every session. Not just a treatment, but a space for real transformation.
