As a pharmacist, I understood that my patients were more than just numbers. I took the time to get to know them, understand their unique needs, and build personal relationships. This level of personalized care became my differentiating factor as a pharmacist, and it allowed me to provide the best care possible.
I also recognized the challenges in the retail setting, with many locations focusing less on patient outcomes. However, I saw this as an opportunity to step up and become a patient advocate. I wanted to be someone who was relatable, trustworthy, and knowledgeable in my field. Starting your own practice can be a daunting task, but I approached it with a clear vision and a solid plan. I focused on understanding the needs of my target patient population and tailoring my services to meet those needs. Initially, my focus was on providing personalized care and building strong relationships with my patients as a pharmacist. However, as I delved deeper into my entrepreneurial journey, I realized that there was a larger purpose driving me. I wanted to make a lasting impact on healthcare and empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being.
To achieve this, I started creating educational materials through the creation of my STEM-inspired children’s book series, The Pharma Heroes. I recognized the importance of educating our children about health and wellness from a young age, and these books became a way to bridge the gap and make complex health topics relatable and applicable to both children and adults. This pivot in my approach allowed me to expand my outreach and create a positive impact on a broader scale.
Another challenge I faced was learning from failures and using them as a springboard for growth. Entrepreneurship is filled with ups and downs, and I encountered setbacks and obstacles along the way.
