Inspiring Conversations with Frances Webb of Frances Webb Esthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Frances Webb.

Hi Frances, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Not sure how far back to go, but here I go. My name is Frances Webb, and I am a Licensed Holistic Esthetics in Downtown Mckinney. At the age of 40, after raising my 2 beautiful children my amazing husband said to me, “ It’s your turn.” Of course, I knew he meant to go back to school, as I had always dreamt of doing. My family was always a priority, like most mothers and wives, but when you have a child born with special needs things change a little more.

I was very lucky that I was able to stay home with our son, who is our second child, for the first 6 years of his life. Which were filled with doctors’ appointments, therapy sessions, and so many hospitals stays to get answers that would never come. All while still holding some form of normalcy for our daughter who was 4 1/2 years older. That was a tough act to balance. Luckily we had a lot of support from family.

As life goes you get into a routine, and I went to work to help where I could to help support the family of 4. My husband, Dwayne, is the most amazing man God could have ever made just for me. We were married on November 14, 1998, after a short courtship. Fast forward to 2018, and it was, My Turn. I knew I didn’t want to sit in an office all day but wanted to help people so I started doing research.

I didn’t realize that Esthetics and Cosmologists were two different programs, so I visited a couple of different schools, and fell in love with Paul Mitchell the School Dallas. I immediately enrolled, started school in August of 2018, and finished the program a month early. I graduated in May 2019, second in my class, and with zero clientele opened a salon suite in July 2019 in Fairview, TX. Things were going ok, and COVID hit in March 2020.

I was forced to shut down for 8 weeks. During this time I re-educated myself on new products and services and built relationships with skincare companies to help grow my business and brand. So when I reopened I relocated to Allen, Tx inside of a hair salon, which was ok for a while, but still didn’t feel like my forever home, all while still trying to figure out what kind of Esthetician I wanted to be. I didn’t want to be one that followed all the newest and ever-changing trends, I wanted to be one that helped people’s minds, bodies, and souls.

When I heard the word “HOLISTIC’” I was like that’s not me. I am not plant-loving, hippie chick, or organic. Ha ha, boy was I wrong about what Holistic Esthetics was. When I was a student at PMTS-Dallas I had an amazing instructor that was so knowledgeable about all things Skin, it broke my heart when she told us she was moving to Austin, TX. She said to stay in contact and I did.

In late mid-2021, I started to pay attention to her Instagram page as she was always posting incredible information about skincare and facial muscles and how they work and move, and I was hooked. So I signed up for her newsletter Skin Obsessed. I was always getting things about lymphatics drainage massage and holistic esthetician, so I clicked on it one day in early 2022 and she offer a certification class for it!! Best decision I ever made!

In March of 2022, I moved to downtown McKinney, and my business has since tripled. I have also taken the Intraoral/Buccal massage certification class with Bethany at Skin Obsessed, with more to come! So I am now a holistic Esthetician. Of course, none of this was ever possible without the support of my biggest support, my husband, Dwayne.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. We all struggle. The thing is, are we going to let it stop us? My son was born partially blind with many medical issues, but he said, “ The only disability in life is a bad attitude.” Life has never been easy for me, but we won’t go into that here. I got pregnant when I was 15 and had my daughter 3 months after my 16th birthday during Christmas break of my sophomore year in High School.

With the help and support of teachers and administrators, I graduated in May of 1996 as scheduled. I met my husband in 1997, and he forever changed my life. Going to Esthetics school and making a career change, was all possible with his support and love. There were days when I didn’t have a client for weeks, but we would say don’t give up, we will figure it out.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
My parents divorced when I was around 4, so my mom moved us to Plano, TX from Corpus Christi. I was a tomboy because I was the baby and only girl. I grew up with 3 older brothers. As a child I was very curious and adventurous. I ran track and always excelled in math, but never pursued it.
