Inspiring Conversations with Gina Korczak Maygan O’Donnell of Uniquely You Learning Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Korczak Maygan O’Donnell.

Hi Gina Korczak, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our story began from a deeply personal place. Through our own experiences with our sons on the spectrum, we saw firsthand how challenging it can be to find a learning environment that truly meets the individual needs of children with special needs.

We recognized a gap. There weren’t enough spaces that combined personalized instruction, therapeutic support, and a genuinely supportive environment where kids could feel understood and successful. We decided to create that space ourselves.

What started as a shared vision turned into a center built around valuing each child’s individuality and strengths. Today, we provide a full-day program with a low student-to-teacher ratio, hands-on learning, life skills development, and a strong focus on fostering independence.

Where we are now is the result of that original passion. We have built a place where students are supported, empowered, and given the tools to reach their full potential, surrounded by a team that truly cares about their growth and success.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road? Well, is any road ever smooth? 🙂

Starting UYLC has been one of the most rewarding things we have ever done, but it definitely hasn’t come without challenges. In these first two years, we have learned a lot. Building something from the ground up means navigating the unknown, problem-solving daily, and wearing about a hundred different hats at once.

There have been moments of exhaustion, figuring things out as we go, and working through obstacles we never could have anticipated. Through it all, every challenge has reinforced why we started in the first place.

What we have created is always worth more than any obstacle thrown our way. Seeing our students grow in independence and confidence, and watching families feel supported and understood, makes every hurdle worth it.

We are incredibly proud of how far we have come, and we are even more excited to continue spreading the word about UYLC and all of the amazing things happening within our center.

We’ve been impressed with Uniquely You Learning Center , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At UYLC, we are a specialized learning center designed to support neurodiverse learners in a way that is meaningful, individualized, and rooted in real life. Everything we do is intentional. Our days are built around helping learners develop independence, confidence, and the skills they need to navigate everyday life.

We specialize in personalized instruction, executive functioning support, and hands-on, real world learning. With a low teacher:student ratio, we are able to truly meet each learner where he/she is and tailor support to unique strengths and needs. Our program also incorporates therapeutic supports and a strong focus on social, emotional, and life skills development.

What we are known for is the environment we have created. It’s supportive, structured, and empowering. Students are actively building skills, gaining confidence, and feeling successful. We prioritize things like movement, outdoor time, and consistent routines because we know how much those impact regulation and readiness to learn.

What we are most proud of is the growth we see in our students. Watching them become more independent, more confident, and more willing to try new things is everything. We are also incredibly proud of the relationships we build with families. There is a level of trust and partnership that means a lot to us.

What sets us apart is that we don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. We have created something that blends structure with flexibility, support and real life application. UYLC is not just a place learners come to spend their day. It’s a place where they are truly seen, supported, and set up for success in a way that extends far beyond the classroom.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to us is that our students feel safe, supported, and truly understood, and that their families know they are safe the moment they walk through our doors.

Safety is the foundation for everything. When learners feel secure and regulated, they are able to try new things, build relationships, and grow in ways that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. For families, especially those who have had to fight to find the right fit, knowing their child is in a place where he/she is cared for, respected, and protected brings a level of peace that is incredibly important.

Beyond safety, what matters most is helping our learners build independence and confidence in real, meaningful ways.

At the end of the day, everything we do comes back to creating a space where students feel safe enough to grow and families feel confident enough to trust. That is what drives every decision we make.
