Inspiring Conversations with Hannah Hanover of The Local Roundup

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Hanover.

Hi Hannah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Prior to working in advertising, I had my heart set on NYC. I studied Fashion Merchandising and Public Relations at UGA and just knew I would end up in Manhattan. I started as a freelance assistant event producer for the Carolina Herrera fashion show at NYFW. After a few seasons of that, I landed a fabulous summer internship at Dolce & Gabbana in their global PR office. I quickly discovered a few months at a time was all I could handle of that big city. I loved the work, and my experience was even published in a course book for Grady College of Journalism that is still used today, over a decade later.

When I wasn’t galavanting off to NYC, trying to be a blend of Carrie Bradshaw and Samantha, I worked my way through college in a local farm-to-table restaurant (before those were a thing) and in women’s clothing boutiques. Going back even further, I was a nanny while I was the Editor of my high school yearbook. In college, I sold ads for our school newspaper. Not knowing than these skills would prove invaluable, and I would find myself back in these fields later in life.

I’ve always enjoyed being part of a team, working together towards something bigger. Bouncing ideas back and forth and watching those concepts morph into a plan, into action that eventually becomes a memory. Whether working for a small business owner or a global business leader, the process of idea to end goal is almost always the same. Being able to repeat that process, successfully, is so satisfying.

When I first moved to Tx, I joined the Membership and Events team at The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. Not only did we plan and execute events for current and prospective members, but we also worked closely with the Board of Directors, bringing their fundraising ideas to life and following through on their connections.

Next, I became a brand manager at The Richards Group. My team managed a larger team of 75+ supporting all creative, media, and analytics needs for our clients such as AAA and HEB. I learned how to juggle so many personalities and processes to bring Client requests to life. I worked mostly on two of the largest and oldest national non-profits, The Salvation Army and the American Bible Society. Between the two, I was able to work with almost every division within TRG at that time. We were often guinea pigs on the latest, new tools and technology but always stayed true to what guaranteed results.

I then joined Megan Van Groll at Evoke + Engage, where I supported the agency at a Client Services and Operations capacity. We provided content strategy and digital creative for a number of businesses in the Marketing and non-profit sectors.

As a mom of 3 littles in a growing community West of Fort Worth, I have finally branched out on my own. Summer of 2022, I created a clickable PDF – a digital resource for new moms and families now calling East Parker County their home. The PDF is a modern-day business directory noting everything from Pediatricians, Mother’s Day out programs, and house cleaning services. I made a list of the recommendations I found on my neighborhood FB group, made it pretty, and released it to my friends and neighbors. It took off! I partnered with a friend (who also lives a few houses down from me!) that is also a photographer to really give The Local Roundup a fresh and timeless appeal. Capturing the essence of small, local businesses with beautiful photography and establishing strategic distribution partners, we hope to get The Local Roundup to all current and future residents of East Parker County. Introducing our friends and neighbors to the many wonderful businesses and service providers our community has to offer is our number one goal.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Bootstrapping a premium publication while raising three young kids went better than expected. I was able to avoid major setbacks using my experience and knowledge as well as the solid foundation I insisted upon from day one to deliver an exceptional piece that has been well received in its first iteration.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Local Roundup?
The Local Roundup is a collection of trusted business and service providers serving East Parker County families and beyond. We seek to cultivate a loyal and engaged following that actively seeks out everyday businesses and services and trusts TLR to expose them to all that the area offers. As with most of Tx, there is tremendous growth in East Parker County – new residents transplanting here from all over the US as well as businesses. With no end in sight to the growth in our area, The Local Roundup strives to capture the latest and greatest.

Our sole purpose is to connect businesses to people. We share hidden gems and small businesses in our community with current, new, and future residents. We are known for uncovering and highlighting the amazing businesses in our backyard.

We bring national, agency-quality advertising to the local level. We are proud of our casual professionalism, superior quality product, and genuine inviting personality. We pride ourselves on tailoring each placement to the Client and their goals. Each business is unique. It is our goal to bring that uniqueness to life and let it shine through photography and a carefully curated publication.

Our publication is meant to last, to stand the test of time. But there is so much more you can do. After numerous requests, we’re developing materials to help business owners navigate the intricacies of DIY Marketing. We are also growing! We have a few additional markets we are testing, and more on deck.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
In Kindergarten I was selected to read my favorite book to the mayor and various city officials. I can’t remember the book or the details of what led to this event. I remember my mom taking me shopping to pick out a new dress, and hairbow! I remember the microphone was way too tall for me to reach. And I remember taking lots of photos. I was so proud!
