Inspiring Conversations with Heather Stevenson of All Things Babe Lash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Stevenson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My mom did hair , so from a very early age I was interested in all things beauty! At 17 I went to cosmetology school straight out of high school at Navarro Cosmetology School in Waxahachie. I attended school full time and worked any moment I wasn’t at school. Finishing school and working full time wasn’t an easy task for me but I did it!

I tried my hand at makeup, hair, brows and skin, but lashing has always been where my heart is!

I started in 2017 at Amazing Lash Studio in Dallas. Shortly after I started working on my own on the side in the Mabank area. My business blew up overnight! I have been booked, busy and blessed for the last 10 years!

I have since worked in Forney for 7 years and have recently moved to Kaufman! I am also an instructor at a local cosmetology school and I offer one on one lash training as well!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life has had its ups and downs. But luckily there are more ups than downs!

My biggest struggle has been having a work life balance along with boundaries with my schedule!

I started out working 12 hours a day, 6-7 days a week, 1 hour appointments back to back. I was just so happy that so many people wanted me as their lash girl! I had to make everyone fit in the day!

As time went on though I have learned to slow down some. My appointments are longer giving me more one on one time with each client, time to eat lunch and take a breather! I also only take a certain amount of clients and I close / open my books when I need to!

This helps me take care of my mental and physical health along with being the best version of me and the best lash tech!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I do mostly lash extensions! I also offer lash lifts and brow services.

I specialize in custom extension lash sets! I don’t use any premade fans, everything is handmade! I use an advanced layering technique that creates natural, wispy lash sets!

I would say I’m known for my professionalism and speed!

What sets me apart – I don’t have just one type of client. I have clients in high school, I have clients that are in their 70’s, clients that want a very natural look and clients that want a mega style! I can customize a lash set to fit anyone’s needs!

I’m most proud of the relationships I have build with my clients. I have made so many life long connections!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am a very thoughtful person. I always think through all of the options, pros and cons before any big decision!

But I also follow my heart and believe in myself and my talent! I have always taken risks with my business and everything has worked out just the way it was supposed to in the end! Even though at times I have taken a detour here and there and some ventures didn’t go as planned.

The way we grow at times is through motion!

In 2019 I took the leap of moving my business almost an hour away. I didn’t know anyone in Forney at all and had a full clientele already built in Mabank. I was killin it there!

There was no guarantee I would succeed in Forney but I made the move and it changed my whole career!
